For a 7 day on the RC you can expect $800-1000 each if you book early for the tickets. I saw it hit around $1500 each when it got closer. I got the tickets free and spent probably $1200 total for my wife and I on booze, shopping, and extras. It all depends on how much you drink, and what kind of person you are. Carnival is cheaper, but I don't think I will ever change ship lines. Food is all inclusive unless you want something special. Which we ate Johnny rockets once which cost us $5 each. Alcohol and cokes are the only things not included on the boat. And everything off the boat is extra.

Haha, We stopped at Jamaica first. Which was trashy run down, and looked like the projects. I am glad we went there, but I will never have an extended stay there. The people hound you worse than the border towns in Mexico. At least when you go to Mexico you expect that. Second we stopped at Cayman. It was pretty and nice. I spent most of that day under water, but my wife got to see the island and swim with the stingrays and liked it. Third day was cozumel which I have been to before, and it is still my favorite. cheap prices like most Mexico places, beautiful island and water. Just relaxing and fun.

Looks like a great time. It has been forever since I've been on one. Carnival cruises aren't bad, just depends on which one you go on. The ones from Houston suck. I went on one from Miami that went to Puerto Rico, St. Martin, St. Thomas that was awesome. Actually the best out of all the cruises I have went on, including the RC cruises. But if your doing local, which the majority of people are because it's so convenient, the RC is the way to go.

All from the people on the RC talking about the comparison. I didn't read up on any cruises because I was never interested in going on one, but the people on the ship said that Carnival doesn't even come close to RC. Not one person I heard talking about it said Carnival came close. Nadia is the first I have heard, but like you see, she says the ones out of Galveston suck. :dontknow:

In fact, the cruise director got on stage with a joke. He said he comes from a family of sailors. His great uncle was in a flood on the mississippi in his mobile home and sailed all the way to the ocean. He said they decided they wanted to start a cruise where you could stay drunk and run around in your underwear.......then they found out, Carnival was already there.

interior, unless you have a balcony, the oceanview is worthless, you won't spend but maybe 6-8hrs in there at night, and enough time to change and get your stuff during the day. I will NEVER get an oceanview. Balcony would be cool, because in the mornings I would go up on the deck to get a breeze and drink coffee, but the window is worthless unless you think you are going to see something at night.

On the one I went on, they take you to Ocho Rios, it wasn't all that IMO. I def wouldnt take a trip there for a week or anything. These guys almost got in a fight with a local because he was trying to sell their 8 year old kid some pot.

Well, airfare is booked and so is the all inclusive. Guess we'll make the best of it If it isn't all that, then how come so many folks go there? As for the selling pot part, ......well, nevermind. BTW, I'll be spending time with my honey away from phones, laptops, etc. That alone is worth what we've invested in the trip

Oh, I'm sorry, wasn't trying to down your trip. All inclusive is awesome. I'm sure you'll have a great time. You have to get your hair corn rolled and send pics.

I've heard that if you stay on those resorts it is great. You get out of the resorts and it goes down hill fast.
That was actually my #2 plan for my honeymoon a couple years ago. My grandma said just stay on the resort whatever you do.

I've been on both RC & Carnival now...and both have their good & bad points. I will have to say that the atmosphere on RC was a little more classy with Carnival being a more non-stop drinking festival. The food on both lines was fine IMO and you get plenty of it. The pressure to buy pictures and booze on Carnival was a lot heavier than it was on RC I thought...but hey! You're on vacation ya know?

I'm partial to the smaller ships...so I'm not sure I'm ready for V-ger of the Seas yet. I wouldn't pass up a good deal on ANY cruise line, that's for sure. I just love to cruise!!!
