Angry A bunch of at Westheimer SB.

Was on my way with a friend (who was driving) to see a movie when he, for some random reason decided to get some Starbucks. Oh well.
So I follow him into the Starbucks parking lot only to find a whole bunch of bikes parked at the front and the surrounding area littered with ICON gear.
I didn't stick around for too long as my friend got his overpriced coffee fairly quickly.

But I did stick close to my bike and in general the comments were "Nice Scooter" and "Did mommy not let you buy a real bike?." Nobody even bothered to say "Hi." They were too busy drinking their $8 ice and caffeine and revving their engines for no apparent reason.

I hope that whoever that group of people is, they don't post on MotoHouston. But if you are, shame on you!

That is all.

Sounds like you found PP1 or Poser Point One. You can ride with me any day of the week! (Right now I ride a 250 Virago) You respect the ride and real riders appreciate the choice you made! It was safe and smart. You ROCK.

The same stuff use to happen to me all the time when I rode my gs500. Learn to ride your 250 to its limits and then upgrade to a larger cc bike become the better rider overall. Besides most of the guys there prolly wont be around to see next riding season anyway.....my two cents

Poo on them. They laugh at my bike, too. I just laugh along with them- and then laugh at them, because my bike is paid for, and nobody wants to steal it.

Thanks. I'm not concerned about my choice. I love my Ninja and am planning to spend at least a year on it.

But its people like that you see taking up forum space in RIP threads.
I can understand me walking into a Harley camp-out and spawning an awkward silence moment or a black hole vortex, but people, be nice!

All they know how to do is ride 100+ around the freeway. That's not riding.

I don't discriminate. You can ride with me anytime. I don't like hanging with bloated airheads like that.

Don't sweat it. The last "group" ride I went on I hung back with a 250 rider. Those guys you met today are a bunch of tools.

For a completely opposite experience:
Stop out by the track on Sunday, MSR-Houston. You'll have a chance to meet lots of really talented riders who will be happy to see you starting on a 250!

yeah, you found Poser Point... Those guys don't ride... they sit at Starbucks and "try" to look cool. Every once and a while, they'll dart around 610 and try not to die...

I went out there once with another friend... like I said, I went once... then I realized that most of those maroons didn't really even know how to ride.

They randomly split up and left people... not the sort that I would like to ride with...

But that's just my opinion...

You are doing the right thing on your 2-wheels! Don't worry about what they said.

I used to ride with a group like that, but i got them to shut up about 250s once they learned i can corner faster and pass them on my little 250.

Best advice is to ignore them. Riding with hot-headed groups like that is only asking for a 5-0 to write you a ticket, or possibly put yourself in a hospital.
