....I'm sad...

A couple of days ago our neighbor gave us a guinea pig one of his daughters gave her little brother as a birthday present, but it seems no one in the household likes to clean his cage and so my neighbor told them to get rid of it....so long story short, i ended up getting it, with cage and accesories. I love small animals, I had mice and a ferret before.

Anyway, my 4 yo son wanted to pet him, and to play with him, I was against it but the wife gave the GP to him, after an argument. sheeshh,...this woman just wouldn't listen to me! anyway, i caught my son picking the GP and playing with him really rough. and now, poor thing is dying I think my son either threw him on the floor or stepped on him.

Right now it's making some noises and is having like convulsions, I feel so bad, it was our responsability to take care of him and now he's dying.

I had a hamster when i was younger. I scared it to death literally!

I sat the hamster cage on the floor with the hamster in running around and playing, well anyways i went to go get his bag of food and when i got it i SLID it across the floor and it hit the cage really hard, we had hardwood floors, well anways i checked on him and he was dead. Not sure what happened there but i was sad.

It's not your son's fault though, he doesn't know any better. Just be careful next time.

You let a 4 YO play with a small pet unsupervised and you wonder why it died?

I'm not wondering, I know, it was our fault, my wifes and mine. :/:

yep we are. but people die all the time from being thrown stomped, bombed and shot... its a part of life... i agree with the "lesson's learned" part. Hopefully Chicnstrips will have an educational conversation with his child that it is bad to hurt animals...

Sorry about your pig. We had one, also, among many, many pets in the past. They all die, and it's sad and heartbreaking. Your son didn't know what he was doing- :/:
