Ninja 500 trackbike?

Any opinions on making a ninja 500 into a track bike? I got a chance to pick up a ninja 500 for dirt cheap with beat up plastics and no title...no its not stollen either....

one of my buddies came back from Japan and he had his bike shipped back and when he recievd it it was laying on its side...so some the the plastics are broken...any how he doesnt want much for it..

good investment in a track bike or a bad choice..LMK

There's stuff available to make it a decent track bike.
If the bike itself is in sound condition and it's cheap, it might be worth it.

Patrick to the rescue...thanks for the advice...yea its in his garage out in Mississippi...I am here in Mississippi for training till October..I have only looked at it casually and I will get to take a better look this weekend...he hasnt try to start it or anything..but i have time to work on it lil bits at a time...

I just wanted to make sure ninja 500 are good for track...I never done a track day but want to start when i get back in the fall and this just seemed like a really good candidate..Thanks for the advice..

If i do pick it up i will be seeking some advice on what can be done as far as suspension goes so be on the look out Patrick..

thanks again

I have heard lots about 500s being track bikes when I had a 500. They pretty much put a 150 tire on the rear, exhaust kit, and an 1st-gen SV shock, and they were off to the races.

Besides a limited tire selection, they get the job done. A well built SV650 will walk off from one though.
FWIW
