Title and Registration Problems

So I recently purchased a new bike. The title is from out of state and I am trying to get the title transfered to me so I can get it registered as well. The bike is insured under me and I recently got the state inspection done on it. Here is the problem, the license on the bike is a Texas plate. That doesn't sound like a big deal but when I first tried to register the bike they said since it is an out of state title, I need to get the bike state inspected an obtain a V130A form from the place that does the inspection. They said that the V130A form should be provided by them and that they will give it to me upon seeing it is an out of state plate. When I went up there for an inspection, the guy doing it said since it is an in state plate, he cannot print me out a V130A form. So now, I don't really know what to do. I tried to go by the courthouse for help but they were closed, and I also called the regional office but same result. What can I do now besides wait until Monday?

Take the plate off, take it up there and tell them you need an inspection done on an out of state vehicle so that you can get it titled.

...might get someone to run the plate #'s and see just where those plates came from, and get the vin checkd while your at it.

Consider... out of state title, texas plates.

Scenarios that pop up out of hand...
1> Stolen Plates or Plates off another bike.
2> Bike was registered in Tx, then titled out of state...but they took
or kept the out of state plates, and put the old tx plates on it? Just on of those things that make you go 'Hmmmm'

...that's just me though <shrug>

So I just got off the phone with the original owner, he said when he registered his bike last year, they gave him the V130A form before he registered but they said he didnt need to transfer the title to Texas. Argh, this is so frustrating....

the shop you had the inspection done at should be able to give the form as long as ask for it within 15 days of the inspection. it is a 1 dollar fee. they don't have to redo the state but it would be helpful if you bring the inspection report.

Well, I did ask for it. The bike has Texas plates on it so he wouldn't give it to me. It is an out of state title.

It's monday, you've been given solid suggestions on how to handle it.

Sally forth and stop the bumpage.

Well I just got off the phone w/ the registration office, they said all I need to do is obtain a copy of the previous V130A form from any place that does state inspection, it should on record still. I'm gonna try that later today and keep yall posted. Thanks for everything guys!
