Are you saying they should not have chased the criminal?

Are you saying the criminal should have pulled over?

no one should run from the cops

and, many chases shoyuld've nver continue from the cops side...IMHO, if it's s bank robber, rapist, etc..yeah, chase him down, but, if it's a traffic violation get the chopper on his and let him have it afterwards. I kow some people here may say "but he was riding so fast he endangered everyone around him' That I understand, but by chasing him in a patrol car the perp will get faster, and more reckles.

I wonder what happened with the cop, was he ok? It didn't look like an actual road block from the video, and I've seen several videos where the cops actually swerve into the perps lane and even hit them (on bikes, not just cars). Is it really ok to pretty much kill someone to get them to stop?

it's a repost.
there's no reason to chase someone "driving recklessly". I had several pursuits back in the day, many unnesessary people get hurt/killed. the "stop the chase by any means" policy is bad for everyone. of course the guy shouldn't have ran, the question here should be the policy of the dept.

why "run" for anything less.

^ and if the wreckless driving person just so happens to be running from the scene of a "serious" crime? the cops should be psychic enough to know?

sorry to nitpick, but if the guy in the video had been driving "wrecklessly" there would be no video because there would never have been a wreck.

Your family and the family of the person(s) you kill or injure.

I think it's cut and dry, if a person runs, the cops should not be responsible for what the law breaker does. The responsibility lies on the shoulders of the idiot who thought running was a good idea in the first place.
