HOUSTON -- A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in northwest Harris County early Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said Charles Baker ran off the right side of Spring Cypress Road near Hufsmith Kohrville Road at about 2:20 a.m.

Baker hit a guardrail and was thrown off his bike, officials said. He died at the scene.

Investigators said Baker was not wearing a helmet.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

RIP

Channel 11 says
HOUSTON -- A motorcyclist was decapitated Thursday morning after missing a curve in northwest Harris County.

The accident happened around 2:45 a.m. on Spring Cypress Road near Highway 249.

"There's a curve in the roadway on Spring Cypress, and the motorcycle was unable to manipulate the curve," Harris County Sgt. S. Wolverton said.

Police said he hit the guard rail and hit a support post, which decapitated him.

"Being that there's a curve in the road, we're assuming that speed is a factor," Sgt. Wolverton said.

The road was closed for three hours while police investigated. The victim has not yet been named.
