laws in regard to speed is the topic, we are just discussing how retarded some of those are
nah, some were starting to go off on enforcement again.

I'll agree, some the of the zones are nuts...but then there are other locations/areas where their pretty solid reasons for the speed set in the area.
90-100mph+ around the loop, or on the interstates within houston? That's stupidity...

That is another point. I mean they are going to increase running so much it is ridiculous. I mean if you were doing 30 over and knew you were going to jail why would you EVER pull over. I know I wouldn't it. I would have a fasttag and just know i am going to run. After the voting scenereo with bush/gore and now this, I think people in florida are the stupidiest people in the country.

i agree... but 70mph between here and dallas is dumb... if they truly went by the reasonable and prudent 85% speed formula, it would be well over 70. same goes for I45 south of houston...i highly doubt that 85% of the drivers would drive at 60 or below if they didn't have to

no that would be california... but we need to saty on topic. but i'm with you on the running part... jail for 5 years for doing 30 over... or jail for 1-2 years MAYBE for attepmt to evade and not getting away... hmm

... theres some question about the license revocation part. Seems that it's just a revocation of the motorcycle license and not car etc... and unknown if it applies to cars in the case of a cager being stopped for exceeding the speed limit by that amount... and this law does not become 'active' until october of 2008.

I find this somewhat humorous..
"Originally introduced by State Rep. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, who developed an irrational fear of bikers after he witnessed some pulling wheelies and driving dangerously during a ride-along with Miami police, HB 137 has become known as the Anti-Biker Bill due to its discriminatory nature"

It seem to me, Rep Carlos Lopez-Cantera needs to see a profesional shrink and leave politics/legislature to someone a bit more...stable.

That's pretty much the same thing I thought when I first read about this guy a couple months ago. There's video of him on Youtube doing the ride along, and he comes across as the Snap-On of tool box douches.

This is a dumb law in my opinion... but even though the punishment is riduculous, i doubt it ever gets enforced....

+1 on the comment about the senator needing to leave politics....

But Ed, this philosophy would make you a great cop/teacher.

Seriously, I know what you mean though. I wouldn't have the patience for it either. I'd end up bustin' somebody in the head with a flashlight.
