I think my friend has a clutch problem. Anyhelp will be appreciated

my friend allowed someone else to ride his bike for like two days, and when the guy brought it back it would go no faster than 5 mph in 1st gear at 10000 rpm. Now when he trys to ride the bike it will cycle threw all gears but wont move when placed into gear. He and i both think that it maybe a clutch problem. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Oh yea its a '98 F3 600.

Make sure the chain is not spinning around the sprocket
(I have seen this!) or the keyway-splines is not stripped on the spur gear.
If the final drive is good then look towards a new clutch and a new friend that won't rag your ride!

there is an easy way to find out what is wrong i have used this method before you will need some rope a bike that runs and rides just fine, a rear stand and a couple of REALLY GOOD FRIENDS

first you take the good running bike and put it on the stand to test it start it up and put it in gear and make sure the tire will spin then take the really good friends and go find the friend that rode the bike last this is where the rope comes into play tie him up and take him to the bike on the stand start said biek and put it in 6th gear get the tire spinning at about 40 and ask him what he did to the bike if he does not tell you anything it is simple he is tied up so put a part of him against the tire then see if he tells you anything this may take a little time and patience and some clean up after wards but it will eventually wield some results LOL

that is one way to do it the other way is see if the front sprocket is spinning at all or if it is broken

The second choice takes less time but the first one would be so much fun I hope i have been of some assistance
