Getting the first bike home.

Tomorrow morning I am supposed to be picking up my first bike. Its a Ninja 250 (MSF + license + gear already done). But having limited experience I'm quite nervous since I will have to drive it a good 60 miles to get home. Looks like its windy tomorrow and um today we had a lot of people killed.

Cheer me up, damit!

But any suggestions?

if you're on the northside i'll help you get it home safely.

otherwise try to relax, stay calm, remember what you were told during MSF and ride defensively. most importantly, wear every piece of gear you own, it could save your life some day.

for tom. if you can get a trailer i would recommend it. the weather is supposed to be crappy. just a warning. but if you do have to ride it back ride defensivly and be careful. there's no rush anywhere remember that!

I trailered my first bike home, too... I'll admit, I was scared about riding it 40 miles home.

However, seeing as how you've got ALL your gear and have taken the MSF before-hand... I'd say you've got your head screwed on right and won't have any issues!

What part of the world are you in? I'd be happy to lend a hand if I can...

not to hurry to take delivery (sometimes be pushed by seller).pick a good day and ask for couple of your friends to escort you home or ride a good / known route ....always be confident in mind and phisicaly when riding.
a windy day on a 250 for 1st time is a no no go for me !!! congrats to your new bike, keep control, enjoy your ride, improve your skill

You could see if you can borrow or get a friend to drive their truck, I borrowed my friends truck for my 250, we made make shift ramps out of extra wood we had around (make sure it's strong enough) and just tied it down real tight

Ride defensively. Do you have a buddy that rides too? Ride together and be seen easier, plus I always feel more confident when with another rider or two.
BTW, I wish the MSF could somehow teach in real traffic situations, I know it's virtually impossible, but that is the most gut checking experience in learning to ride. GL mang...u got dis!
