Calling all HD/Buell owners...

I'm looking at getting some oil next week and debating on what to put in my Buell. It's a 1203 Sportster engine, so it's nothing high tech.

Do you guys use the special "v-twin" oil? Notice any difference?

For the transmission, when did you switch to syn? Do you use syn+ or have you found something better?

I used motul dino oil to break her in, but now i'm ready to put some serious miles on it. I'm mainly concerned about heat dissipation and oil life based on heat effects. Any advice or experiences are welcome!

And for all you haters, GTFO of my thread

alot of hd riders use the screaming eagle oil its syn I did some research and found the oil napa carries ams I have been very happy with it... I have noticed my gearbox has smoothed out considerably with it . napa also carries the oil filters at about half of dealer cost.

So, do the Buells have transmission that is separate from the engine like the HD's,or is thier tranny self contained like most metrics?

Mobile 1 V-Twin full synthetic is good stuff, it's what goes in the Yami

the firebolts all have sportster engines in them. few parts have been changed out and the oil cooler has been redesigned, but nothing too major.

thanks for the input guys, gonna check out some different oils over the next few months. going to pick up some motul today and try the mobile 1 next time. not many people i've talked to on badweb (a buell site) have used the motul, so i figure i'll give it a try.
