Man I look good out there. Thanks for the pics SBK.

I learned a pretty good chunk of riding out there yesterday. I think the biggest thing I learned was trail braking with the front brakes mid corner. I did this a little bit on the street combined with engine braking before but when I did a lap or two I found out it was a must. I also scraped my left boot in the same turn twice (get your d@#$ foot higher on the peg). I scraped the feeler on my right foot peg mid corner leaning off the bike with all of my weight on it and had a big scare (The feelers came off before the next session). And for some reason going into Diamonds Edge I locked up the rear brake for about 100ft with my daughter on the berm watching (she later told me she was scared I was going to wreck there). I'm used to using the rear brake on the street so instinctively I still want to use it on the track.

And I got body position of the day award. Buck told me himself so HA.

Guitar man was the King of Body Position. One of those who really put into practice what we were teaching. Well done, just keep that sort of riding at the track.

Big ups to Dr. Gonzo for helping me past a plateau in my skill level I never thought I'd break. I'm 39 and ridden since I was 12, but for years now I have been in a rut that Gonzo helped me past in 10 minutes.
Wow. Thanks guys!
and Meaners' pics and Witchdoc's wifes' shots are awesome! I will post my chicks pics under a different name, most of them are of half a bike, part of a tire, empty carousel....
Hope Mike feels better, that sucks.
glad I could help, I could totally see how stoked you were.

That really made my day...

thank you sir, i need to get my feet up ( big feet) and i need to put my knee out more and slide my off, but i was just having so much fun just stickin into the tank and trying to make sure my lines were right, and that i was keeping my feet up (dragging toe isnt fun) and that i wasnt going too hot into anything serious.

but at the end of the day, trusting my tires (since they hadnt slipped on me all day) and trusting my brakes, i was able to turn what i thought were a few good laps. would of been kinda cool to have someone clock us (but not tell us till the end of the day that they did) and see what we ran.

I want to thank those who sponsored the 5 noobs yesterday and those who donated gear, transport, etc. Very cool. I had a great time yesterday. I'm definitely looking forward to another trackday soon to build on what I learned yesterday.

I did a few laps with the helmet cam -- you can see everyone passing me -- I'll post it once I have it uploaded.

FUN FUN FUN

Pretty typical track day: 30 some riders, three or so broken bikes and one hospital trip. Welcome to the broken collarbone club, Mike. Mine still gives me twinches after nine months.

I really get amused by you young guys moaning about how sore you are. Get older, then you'll know real pain.

I was really impressed how fast some of you guys were. I also didn't see any really sketchy riding. Hope that was true for everyone.

What a fun day. I have to say I was very very impressed with everyone at the track yesterday. You guys did a great job applying what you were learning. I was impressed with the comfort level everyone seem to have so quickly. I didn't see people getting easily spooked, which says something for new track riders .

Great seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones.

Mike, sorry about that collarbone, I'm just glad I didn't run over you since you were maybe 15 feet in front of me when it happened. Heal up quick.

Adam, RoadRacerNC, you did awesome out there man. You learned a lot and looked like a completely different rider in the afternoon than in the morning. It was nice to watch.

LMS has it's next trackday on March 23rd! Hope to see at least some of you guys out there again to feed that newfound track addiction.
