Stray dog

So I'm in my garage working on my trailer. I wanted to add a couple arms so I have better tie down points when I have two bikes on it. Anyway, I'm out there, it's pouring rain outside, out of nowhere this little wet dog comes walking past me. Lookin around the garage like it's nothing. I call him over he is very well behaved, listens, obviously trained. I call the number on the tag and nobody answers. I dry him off and put a few towels down for a makshift bed for the guy. Of course he goes out in the rain every few minutes and gets wet again.

After I get done with my project I get him some food and water. I closed the garage door most of the way, it's open so he can come and go if he wants. I left the radio on for him but I can't/won't let him in the house because I have my cats. I think they would kick his if he started trouble

SO, this is my new friend. I have another can of food for him if he is out there in the morning. He wouldn't stay still for my camera phone so the pic isn't great.

just went out there and it was cold. even with the garage door mostly shut the wind is too strong. I ran the car for a bit, a warm engine does a lot to warm a garage, let it air out a bit, and turned on the halogen work lights before I closed the door. Had to warm it up a bit, he was shivering.

Dog is dying from carbon monoxide as we speak....:/:

Hope not! If you PM me the number I can probably tell you the owner.

i did a reverse look up on the number and got two addresses. Both are up near Bay Area Blvd. That's pretty far from me for a little dog like this. I have a feeling it's someone who moved here recently. If the dog is here tomorrow I'll walk him around the neighborhood.

Cute little thing! If worse comes to worse he can come hang out in our yard for a little while til ya find the owner! We have a nice warm "doggie room" as long as he can learn to use a dog door!

I broke down and let him in. He is on a leash but he is lying down on my area rug a few feet from me.

I love dogs, it's nice to know he's not shivering. (I turned the heat up a bit)

Thanks Candie. If he is still around tomorrow I'll get in touch with you. He's going in the garage when I go to work.

Something told me you wouldn't leave him out in the cold! I have seen the way you talk about your cats! You have a soft spot for animals!...... So do I! Just about every animal we have had, began as a stray! Found my Min Pin on Christmas day 8 years ago! And he has been the best dog we have ever had! We loved him so much we built him his own room!

YES I am old enough to remember Benji. I even tried calling this guy Benji just to see is he responded.

I like dogs and cats. BUT, I like to go away for long weekends. My two cats can keep each other company just fine while I am gone.

This dog has lived with cats, he looks at mine and walks right by.

Just took him for a walk around the neighborhood to see if he would find his home. No luck. Well, he will have a warm place to sleep tonight at least.

Try to call the vet number again tomorrow maybe they can give you owner's name/info. Did you check the name from the reverse search and search for it in your area? Maybe they are already listed?

My Mom works at the Bay Area SPCA off 146 Mike if you need help finding a home for him. Amy does obedience training for them on Fridays and Saturdays. (She does it for me everynight though.)
Can understand the independant nature of the cats though. Everytime we go away, the dog care cost more than the airfare. Love them all though.
We need a post your pets thread.
If they are like my dogs, he may have a micro chip. Call your nearest vet and ask if they can scan him.
