ATHEISTS HOLIDAY

First of all ... this is not meant to offend anyone, please take it as a joke, with some truth behind it from a Christian perspective.

COURT SETS ATHEISTS HOLIDAY

Have you heard about this case? Great answer from the judge!

In Florida , an atheist became incensed over the preparation of Easter and Passover holidays. He decided to contact his lawyer about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while atheists had no holiday to celebrate.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the long passionate presentation by the lawyer, the Judge banged his gavel and declared, 'Case dismissed!'

The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, 'Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other observances. Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah...yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!'

The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said, 'Obviously your client is too confused to even know about, much less celebrate his own atheists' holiday!'

The lawyer pompously said, 'Your Honor, we are unaware of any such holiday for atheists. Just when might that holiday be, your Honor?'

The judge said, 'Well, it comes every year on exactly the same date---April 1st! Since our calendar sets April 1st as 'April Fools Day,' consider that Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no .' Thus, in my opinion, if your client says there is no , then by scripture, he is a fool, and April 1st is his holiday! Now, have a good day and get out of my courtroom!!

Way to go, Judge! AMEN!!!

Maybe just me but I didn't find it humerous at all, not really sure if it was supposed to be a joke or not though. Oh and for the judge, showing an intolerance for other religions that are not his own...that's one thing that pushes me away from the devout Christians, etc.

yeah, i can see how someone might not find it funny, but i was more curious about what part of it made you think that it degrades Christians? and how?

Well this was never meant to be a hilarious kidney bustin joke ... its more to just bring a smile to your face with a half chuckle, but it's geared more for Christians.

I didn't find humor in it either, but it makes a point. And I don't think it is intolerence for other religions as being an aethiest is lack of belief in one, not its own religion.

gotcha ... and yeah, i agree with that in the story the judge puts personal feelings into a judgment where it shouldn't be ... but like i said, im sure its not a true story, its just a tale to make a point from a religious (Christian) perspective.

atheism isnt a religion or a belief. its a lack of any kind of belief, wether it be religious, paganism, vampirism, etc.

i didnt find it funny, but rather irritating. I find it irritating when i hear whining period whether its from atheists or christians or any religious sects crying about some kind of injustice against there beliefs (or lack thereof).

I completely agree. What day would an athiest want when they do not celebrate anything? Maybe a national Darwin day? (joking)
But how can atheist be considered a religion? To my understanding, it is not.
