Help on seat material info.

I have an 02 SV650 that the seat is starting to tear. I want to just recover it but dont know where to get the material. Does anyone know if it is available or what is a good alternative? Thanks.

Well if you just need the covering material, I have used the same stuff the cover boat seats with. I have been able to go to Jo Anns or any fabric store and see if the got the fake leather looking stuff for boats. You don't need that much for the seats. Then you can stretch it out and use a staple gun to clamp it down.

I was looking for a more specific seat material that has the same gripping ability as the OEM stuff. i know some of the material especially the boat stuff gets awful soft when hot. I want to say the stuff on there now is more like a waffle pattern that is more of a plastic than traditional vinyl that would cover say furniture.

Well if you are looking for something like that might have to take it to a shop. If not have to see when you can get the seat covers. I would think you could get a different one for it.

Check ebay for the seat material; or a replacement seat if you want to do an oem replacement

I bought some material (vinyl) locally for less than $10 and it is enough to do about 2.5 seats, unfortunately I live in Victoria, or else you could swing by and pick it up. If memory serves correct I bought it at Hancock Fabrics (I don't know if they are a chain or not).
