I usually do 2 or 3 bikes a week. Half the people that come in stop by first to ask if we even do them.

Mine was out for 11 months. I finally went ahead and threw the sticker on there like 2 weeks ago. Next Wednesday I gotta go renew my 1 month expired registration.

Yup, we're usually out riding. If I were out posing like the GSX-R guys, I may be worried.

Unhappy

Texas law states that you have 90 day window from the date it expires to get it replaced. If you get a ticket for not having it, then you have 'reasonable time' to get it taken care of (usually 5 days in most courts). 2005?? The judge is not going to let you off if you go and get it the next day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just checked the DPS web site. The Grace period for and inspection sticker is 5 days not 90 days.

I usually go months with an expired one. Truck has not been inspected since 11/07. Took my bike in a few months back, did not even have a sticker on it, last one that was on it was from 05, and it was stuck to a piece of plastic I kept in my tail. Its just my way of retaliating. I see so many cars that WILL not pass inspection and they run around all over the place, smoking, busted lights, I can smell the gas in their exhaust fumes and everything thing else, cops must not be doing their job. But they will pull over a fairly new truck and give them a ticket.

The last time I renewed a inspection sticker I was on my dualsport and this guy Couldn't mount it - so I had to start it, test the brakes, break lights (which were not D.O.T.), he jumped a half a foot away when I hit the 139db air horn, The nobby tires were legal but he never looked for the D.O.T. (do offroad tricks) on them, and I had an Acerbis headlight that is not D.O.T. but he never looked for the high beam indicator.
All in all it was worth the 12.50 (for waller co.) out of the entertainment budget.
Btw, I've been informed the next time I go in for the registration renewal I must show proof of ins. and inspection report or go home empty handed!
That's new to me!!!

everything was stated before as far as whats required to pass but blinkers are not exactly required seein as we can get by with hand signals...the only thing is you either have to have them or dont, cant be just front or just rear. also you only have to have one mirror (for those that dont have mirrors at all)

this info is per several inspectors over the past 4 years of riding

You still thave to have them. A friend of mine got a ticket for failing to signal, even though he used his hand signal. It's always going to depend on the cop.

I always try to stay legal. I'm too good... one day I'll do something bad... one day...

1 of my streetbikes expired in Oct 04 the other in Jan 05.

I guess I don't like paying yet another TAX to ride my scoots. That's all it is... a tax.
You can take 1 look and see my bikes are well maintained. The popo should be more concerned with some guy in a beater pickup than me.

better to have them than not but they are not manditory... look at all the choppers and other bikes that ride around without them...you either have to use hand signals or have turn signals...the cop that gave your budy a ticket is an idiot cause he was legal but do what you need im just stating the facts not sayin dont use them cause we need all the visibility we can get

Ok.. lemme clear up some of the mess that's going on here... I dunno where u guys are reading your "State Law" but where ever it is....it's not right. Here's the dealio:

You can be cited for no inspection the day after it expires. Now...you can get that ticket dismissed IF you meet all of the following requirements:
1. You get the inspection within 10 days of receiving the ticket
2. Your inspection has not be expired for more than 60 days;
3. You agree to pay a $10 administrative fee.
That's straight out of the Texas Transportation Code Sec 548.604

Now as far as the whole turn signal/ no turn signal thing...here's the answer to that:
Texas Transportation Code Sec 547.801 (lighting equipment for MC's)
You must have;
1. No more than Two headlamps (one low/ one high beam)
2. at least one taillamp/ stoplamp
3. one separate lamp for illuminating the license plate

There is no requirement for turnsignals on motorcycles. However, if you make a turn without turn signals...and you don't use your hand signals...you can still be cited for failure to indicate turn/lane change/ etc.

Ya HEARD me!!! lol
