What's a better Digital SLR?

Nikon D80
Nikon D40x
or
Cannon Digital Rebel XTi

or would you recommend something else?

I've been eye balling the D40x and now the D80
But someone has told me that the Cannon XTi is a better choice when compared to the D80 because of the number of lenses offered. :dunno:

I don't know... all I know is that when we bought ours the lens' were much cheaper for comparable canon products.

in the Nikon D series, the higher the number, the better the camera (supposedly)
I have a D40, and have found hundreds of different lenses. Cheaper than Canon as well. I love my D40.

I'm also looking for a caera with the most open shutter FPS bursts.
It looks like most of them are default at 3FPS

the number thing is a misnomer I believe. We just bought the new d300. It is the the same as the d3 without the weather proof body.

investigate the add on battery on the nikons. I know with our d300 getting the add-on battery boosts that number to 6 fps I believe.

I know the D40 is the entry level DSLR, and it has like the smallest number. but I am new to this, they didn't go over the best DSLR camera in photography class.

I bought a D40 (not the d40x) when it first came out and i love it!!!! On the other hand, i don't know $hit about dslr's and i probably know how to use 10% of the potential of my camera. . .still takes kick shots. check my pics out on page 2 of the stuntwars pics thread.

the other lens we got with the d300 is the 18-135mm. It is more of a wide angle lens.

The lens is more important than the camera. With that said, I'd get a Nikon, even if it's just a D40, for the better lenses.
