Man drives motorcycle off edge of freeway ramp

04:23 PM CST on Sunday, March 2, 2008

KHOU.com staff report

A man died Saturday when he drove his motorcycle off the edge of a freeway exit ramp in southwest Houston.

Investigators say the man was riding the motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he lost control and flew off the ramp from the Southwest Freeway to Beltway 8.

The man died on impact.

Two ramps had to be closed for about two hours while crews cleared the accident.

This is a completely different accident. But RIP to the man who passed. Very sad. :/:

Omega- Ian did ride with a cast on his hand for a while... that's when I first met him in early Feb. He broke his hand when he was fighting crime. He really is a good guy. It's a terrible shame that he's going through this.

Just part of his hand was broke, it didn't affect his riding at all..only made it harder for him to put his jacket on! Unfortunately the man who drug him off the road drug him by that arm and he's only had the cast off for a week

Spoke with his brother, he said Ian was having a hard time with the pain after his surgery today. Said it was the worst pain he has ever felt by a longshot, and he has been through quite a bit. Other than the pain, the surgery went well. He is scheduled for one more surgery in 2 weeks. He should be getting the drain/feeding tube out of his nose tomorrow and will be moved out of STICU not too long after that. Thanks again to everyone keeping Ian and his family in their thoughts/prayers. It means a lot to me, his family, sure Ian will appreciate it when he is able to read this thread. I made it clear to his mother that if they need help with ANYTHING that we are here for them, and she was very grateful for the offer.

OMG....I'm so glad he's gonna make it! Wow it sends chills up my spine even thinking about falling uncontrollably (sp) 25+ feet 2 the concrete below, AND BEING CONSCIOUS the WHOLE TIME, not knowing whats gonna happen. Normally when u dream about falling u wake up before u hit, i couldn't imagine there being no such thing as not waking up.

Thank the motorist was there 2 pull him out of the oncoming traffic. Did the one that ran over his leg stop?

OMG he is so blessed 2 be alive at this point..PLEASEEE KEEP us updated on his progress!

My prayers are surely with him and his family for a speedy recovery... this just freaks me out....
