LSTD @ Texas World Speedway, 03/03: CANCELLED

Many of your probably already know this, but this Monday's event has been cancelled.

The weather Gods are definitely frowning upon the State of Texas for the beginning of 2008. TWS (Texas World Speedway) management is allowing us to cancel this particular event and we thank them for realizing that “large hail” coupled with “a tornado warning” does not spell a great day or riding. Wet forecasts do not always mean that an event will be cancelled, but we appreciate TWS (Texas World Speedway) giving us a pass THIS TIME.

If you have signed-up for the particular event, we have a credit for you on file to use any time in 2008. Remember, when you want to use your credit at another event, you must e-mail wade@lstd.com to let him know the DATE your credit is from, PLUS, the new Date and Group you wish to ride in.

We all still want that track fix and our next event is right around the corner... Monday, March 17th @ GrandSport Speedway. Secure Online Registration is now open, or you can obviously use your credit.

Everyone at LSTD thanks you for your continued support!!!

That's a shame the weather won't cooperate. Maybe later in the season it will be better.
Props to TWS (Texas World Speedway) for doing the right thing.

It really sucks! I haven't ridden track since December 31st! Hoefully the weekend of the 15th, 16th and 17th will be nice! That will be 3 straight track days for me! Two at MSRH and the one at GSS!

It appears that they might have actually gotten the forecast correct this time...still though, this is Rain Delay #3 for me and I'm getting a bit irritable!!!

two VERY different tracks. they are almost the opposite really.

in short:
TWS (Texas World Speedway) very wide, fast, not as technical track

GSS narrow, slow, technical

Like Tony said, very different tracks.

TWS (Texas World Speedway) is a "superspeedway" like Daytona. The road course is carved out of a NASCAR oval track, and is a very high speed track with high speed wide corners and very few technical low speed areas and some interesting elevation changes with blind corners.

Grand Sport is a great little track, little like 1.3 miles. No real elevation changes, and has very tight technical corners with few high speed turns. It's a lot like the Mercedes track in Angleton.

GSS is a great little learning track, and a great place for experts to hone their skills as well. No elevation changes means no blind turns, but very technical turns helps you work on corner speed and braking. Run off is good, since it's built on a blimp base- so you don't run off in to the mud, it's mostly concrete run off.

Thanks to LSTD and TWS (Texas World Speedway) for stepping up.

Wish I was at the track instead of writing this post.
