my first ticket in houston was exactly the same +10mph on 45 south.

I think i hear you, trdvet, admiting that it's wrong, no? I mean shouldn't people that go with traffic at relatively safe 70mph be just left alone? I'd rather see a cop pull over 10 speeders a day each doing +25mph and more, instead of pulling 100 speeders each doing +10mph. Won't you agree that it would be a better use of the police's time - in other words "not quantity but the quality"?

I can continue arguing by saying that 30 over is worse than 10 over in anyone's view (quite objective)... However i know what you meant - the speeding is speeding. So even 1mph over is still technically breaking the law.
And I dont argue with that.

I just want the officers to consider giving more substantial tickets and less bullshit tickets. Yeah I subjectively think that 70 in 60 is a bullshit ticket, especially if everyone else is going 70 too.

Finally, i recognize that bad as the system is in here, it could also be worse. In Russia a motorist has to literally pay off the LEO. This creates LEOs that are basically pulling anyone off just to make money. I have heard the same stories about Mexico too.

In contrast in California, where state taxes pay for the public services such as police, i have never been pulled over at +10 on highway. And I dont know of any of my friends in CA who were.

Sorry cops....

It was the last day of the month though so.....they had to slide in a few extras for the stat card of the month.....

Just get deferred adjudication and be done with it....its not likely you will "win" if you contest it.

I tell you what, if that **** was trying to run me off the road when I was slowing down to stop, I would let him know I was slowing to stop by nodding or hand signaling, then I would have let him bump me and I would drop.....then sue the **** out of him using his own video tape as evidence....

you know i am definitely paying attention to this whole thing, and this time i agree with you

to be honest is the whole truth and i thank you for doing it

The small box in the lower left corner of a COH ticket is where the witnessing officer info goes. it may not be on your copy as sometimes the info is written on the original not the pink copy that you get.

Secondly, a DA will never prosecute a traffic ticket. DA's are Class B and above. The city has prosecutors that handle the Class C cases.

Thirdly nothing will be thrown out until you actually go to trial. The officers that are heavy hitters and write a lot of tix always show for court.

Last, since the witness that actually saw you commit the violation will be the one to testify in court makes the event direct evidence, not circumstantial.
I think they call this:
game, set, match

great info and thanks andre for the clarity

Unless Captain Dillhole's car has certified calibration (his speedo is calibrated and reads EXACTLY what the speed is) then you're home free.

Look at the speedo of a cop-car, in little tiny letters it will say "CERTIFIED CALIBRATION" or something to that effect. I don't think his Impala is "certified"... FWIW

Hey! Not all cops are bad! I happen to have a very nice experience with one last night! I got pulled over going 60 in a 45! He asked me where I was going! I told him to pick up my friend, and I was running late. So really I didn't have an excuse! He took my license and insurance and then let me go with only a warning! So all cops are not out to get us!
