Incidents like this happen all the time. I can't remember how many times someone has passed me within six inches. The video doesn't show if the rider could see or hear the overtaking bike. Most of the time, I can hear a bike about to pass or see them out of the corner of my eye and can hold a good line.

Unfortunately, last July someone got that close and startled me and that's how I high sided and broke my collar bone. I blame myself not the rider who got too close.

Its important for everyone's safety that regardless of what another rider does in front we still keep a good predictable line and not cause problems to those behind.

that sh*t was crazy.....also one of the reasons I RARELY pass on the inside during a trackday. I do my best to keep from spooking other riders.

My main thing is the leaning that I have to work on.
You should go spectate a few trackdays to see what they are all about if you haven't already. The noob day and novice groups are nothing like that.

So the dude must have ran off track right? I can't believe the guy had two close calls within 1 lap. I think I would pit out and clean out the leathers.

Close, but you guys are condemning the rider too quickly methinks. The guy may have had a mechanical issue, brake problem or something else. Not saying he handled it properly ('cause this is another case of not enough information), but it doesn't mean that he completely screwed up either.

That was effin' close though, been there, done that (been the hittee, not hitter).
