serious backfire

So Brandon and I were riding down to MSRH saturday morning when my bike started to backfire something serious. I couldn't get it over 4k rpms and it was bucking like a wild bronco. It finally just completely stopped running and a nice lady came by and we loaded it into her van and got it home. We picked up my car and still made it to the track.

Question is, what would cause this? Bad air, fire, fuel combo? Carbs not synced right? Bad fuel pump? Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks.

Will it start? crank?

pull plugs and see if you smell fuel coming out as you crank it(make sure the wires are to the side and dont crank it too long...

we need to rule out a fuel pump or fuel issue; compression is unlikely to change, even fouled plugs will still allow an engine to run; unless you put diesel in it, i'd doubt it would die while riding.

Let us know and hope u feel better

Sounds like you picked up a bad load of fuel.
Give me a shout if you need anything.

So I went home yesterday and tried to start the bike with no success. However, I pulled the iginition coil off the number one cylinder pushed it back down nice and tight and tried to start it. After a shotgun sound of a backfire, it started and ran like a scalded dog. Don't really know but it seems to be running great now.
