Well with it sitting in a Starbucks parking lot posing it sure looks like one.

And I was thinking about throwing some green on it. I just need to get rid of the blue turnsignals and white sliders. Looked good when the bike was candy raw plasma blue though.

yeah, if you can stay away from using rattle cans....that would of course be the best option. especially when doing matte or semi-gloss painting. some experience and chemical knowledge of the products you will be using also helps on having a nice outcome of the product.

if you've got all the body work done, maybe i can give you a killer deal on the spraying.

only bad part about flat/matte is it doesn't have much protection against UV (sun).....and will oxidize/fade much quicker than a gloss paint.

the surface of gloss clear looks like this...

because the gloss clear is flat in texture, it creates the shine and also does not absorb much of the UV/sun. the matte/flat clear absorbs almost all the UV/sun it comes in contact with, which gives it the non-shiny appearance.

of course, the two examples above aren't seen with the naked eye, but that's how it would look with a microscope/etc.

Here is my trackbike w/ both looks. 1st one was a home-made paint booth job w/ rattle cans (semi-flat), and the second was a home-made paint booth w/ HPLV sprayer & auto-quality paint (gloss black).

I am trying to figure out which one would look better, which one would be easier to apply, and which one will still look good in a couple years. I am also thinking about having someone airbrush something small on the sides and a good color to contrast whichever color I go with.
if you have gloss wheels, go gloss with the other goodies, just doesnt look right IMO with the mix.

The gloss black on the race bike does look really clean, but I think if I was around a bunch of bikes, the matte black look would be the better choice

Thats why I was thinking maybe going matte or semi-gloss black with some gloss black designs, they won't be real obvious and annoying, and they will help to match the wheels

Finished painting last night, went with the semi-gloss black, turned out really good.

Here she is, took a long time with prep work and waiting for the right weather, but it was worth it.

P.S. Took the picture with my phone so it is not that clear
