Lots of R6's have been doing that in crashes on the track. I've seen a couple of threads on the WERA forums about this. Didn't they come up with tank sliders to help with this?

I wouldn't be surprised if the trackday orgs take to the race orgs requirement to have tank sliders on the 07's. Red flag mess huh Bill.

seems like it took awhile for someone to get to the bike with extinguishers. Then to have the wrong type when they finally got there.

Not only the bike, but I am sure the track owners had to eventually repair the track, asphalt does burn when you put that kind of heat that close to it.

I take that back.. This season all 06'-07' R6 will HAVE to have them to pass tech for CMRA.

Has anyone else wondeered what Yamaha was thinking on this?? Only upside I see is that they replace more bikes from insurance etc...........I'm going to bet used R6 parts are going to be a bit harder to come by if most of the minor crashes are going to be totalled by fire. Reminds me why I love my Honda, smart engineering.
