Rider to Passenger/Other Rider Communication

Do any of you other sport bike riders use communication systems such as Chatterbox or GMRS/FRS Radios when riding? I just bought a set of TORK headsets for my walkietalkies to talk to my passenger when riding and it is pretty sweet. Gonna try to get my buddies to get them so when we go riding we can all talk to each other.

Actually I bought the TORK headsets from Cycle Gear. $50 each. Lil overprice IMO but thats pretty much all I could find that I know works with my cobra walkie-talkies. the headsets are just standard 1 pin headsets expect they are made for helmets. My Cobra's are just plain ol GMRS/FRS walkies from best buy (18 mile model) the headset are velcro and just pop in the headset, it also has a wire that straps around your handlebars that is the push to talk button.

Passenger to Rider?

I guess she can smack me on my helmet if she needs attention.

How clear is it? I use 8 mile radios for hunting that would be compatible with this. Debating b/t their $100 model and the $50 model.

I checked into this a while back. DO NOT ever buy that chatterbox , for anyone thinking about it. I have read a load of negative reviews about them.

I am with you, ryan. My buddy obliv and I were going to check out some headsets to plug into radios so we can communicate on rides. Would be sweet to have a big group using them! Let us know how it works out for you in the long run.

I have the Scala Rider Teamset for rider to passenger comm and it works great. It will synch up with your Bluetooth phone so you can receive calls while riding. The batteries seem to last forever. I've been using it for about a year.

It has a range of about 50 feet so you could do rider to rider but only close range.

Got mine on E-bay for $170 delivered.

The newest version has a much longer range for rider to rider comm.

It will not connect up with every device you have like MP3, etc but I didn't want that.

I bought the deluxe version - my S.O. can hear me talk but I can't hear her.

I don't know yet how clear it is once I am actually going a good speed. We will find out on the ride to Saratoga tomorrow with my passenger. Ya any walkie-talkie that uses the 1 pin headset connection should work with it (I believe this is mainly Cobra and Motorola) and it can be bought at Cycle Gear. The sell them a bit cheaper online, but after shipping it was not that big difference plus I was able to test it out with my radios in the store so I am sure it works.
