so I am selling my bike on CL... and I receive this email from a dude saying that he is interested etc... I respond with how he can get in touch with me to take a look and this is what i get instead:

Hi,
Thanks alot for the email.. I'm highly intrested in your item but i won't be able to come take a look at it as i'm the busy type but believe it's exactly what you stated in the Ad. Mind you, i will be paying you with a bank check and my shipping agency will be coming for the pick up of the item from your location as soon as you confirm to me that you receive the check and it clears your bank.If this arrangement is okay by you, Pls. provide your full name, contact address and a valid cell # so i can forward it to my financier to mail the payment to you as soon as possible.
I hope to read from you soonest.

He probably will want my acct number as well

just something for everyone to beware of...

no man dont do it, what will happen is they will get you a cashiers check, fake of course, then the bank will give you the money because it looks real, after they find out its fake, 5 days later, they will charge you for the rest of the money, plus your bike will be gone, report that jack now

yeah there was a NBC dateline episode "to catch an internet predator" about those scams... letters that start like that "dear sir, I am a wife of a late oil magnat/etc" but i thought this thing with the craigslist is kind of original not as dumb as those poorly spelled letters...

of course i called their bullshit. But i was kind of intrigued by their sophistication... I just dont know where to report that kind of stuff and i doubt anything could be done if the emial is traced to some internet cafe somewhere on the other part of the world...

I feel bad for naive people that fall for that but then again it's all part of life lessons learned
