they can ask all they want, that doesn't mean they sell for asking price. alot of prices i see are wishfull dreaming, and trying to get payoff.

I think the high price is related to the people financing thier bikes then trying to get rid of them after a year and taking a big hit when they realize they owe more than its worth.

Always have to remember, when selling a bike you dont want to be to high on price and dont want to be the lowest. I am waiting another month or so and I think I will sell then. If someone wants to buy my bike for 8K, with all the goodies, then so be it. If not then I will part it out and still get 8K of more when all said and done.

I offered the body work to someone on the board, guess he thought it was to expensive. Well in the end, they will find out when they crash that 200-300 cheap body work, they will have to replace it all over again. Not including the paint job. To each there own, I just like buying the best and I keep eveything I own spot less.

Ill have to keep in mind that you have body work for my bike. Im not ready to purchase now but would like to pick some up.

600's are about $10k or more out the door. 1000 are up in $13K+. These sportbikes are water cooled and can last a lot longer than the older the air cooled or oil cooled engines. If you bought a new bike and used it a few years, I don't think that you wanted to sell it half the price of the bike. For $5-7K, you will get a decent clean bike, any less than that are really used, abused or junk/salvage. You pay for what you get. Everyone wants newer and better but that comes with a higher price tag.

yeah, but i love seeing postings on craigslist like the one i saw earlier...

"The bike has never been dropped only has 550 miles... Includes the frame sliders, and dash fiber gauge trim. It has been garage kept at all times.... The KBB priced the bike at 7500, but asking more because basically a new bike with hardly any miles."

don't understand why you'd advertise that you're asking more than the bike's worth...

but part of the reason (i'd think) that bikes are over priced here is b/c we have a year-round riding season... we've already had 2 good riding weekends this month and it's only feb...

The price is ridiculous that is why I buy from girls that want jobs or out of town.

I agree.... Motorcycles are "generally" financed at absurd percentage rates so most are trying to get what they owe on their bikes.

For the most part. Motorcycle prices have not increased dramatically like Cars/Trucks have..

something to think about, if a person has a paid off bike, they are much more willing to negotiate, when they are selling, it's generally not $ out of their pocket so to speak, the bike is paid off and they're getting CASH.

when financed, GENERALLY they still owe. so not only are they selling a bike, they are usually having to out of pocket to make up for the negative equity.

One of the reasons of the high bike prices is cause all the good deals are scooped up by people lurking on craigslist, ebay, etc. all day and flipping them for a measly $500-$1000 or so more.

Perfect example........http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=47405

Theres a few of those guys in the Houston area and you gotta be quick if you want to find good deal, otherwise you see the same ol bikes sitting there for sale for ever asking too much for them.
