i dealt with him before. i put up an ad for a bike for cheap, he wasted some of my time cause he didnt read the ad, BUT, in his defense he gave me $20 to make up for my time, so it didnt really bother me too much. i was still generally pissy though that i took the time to write up all the problems only to have someone be suprised it had said problems when they came to look at the bike...HELLO...READ...

thats just how some folks make money, and i guess if you have the option it can be good cash for not alot of work, cant blame him for that, but a lame story is pretty shady.

ive learned to be pretty callous to people trying to be slick and give some story or hook you with some sales pitch. once you get the hang of shooting these people down its pretty fun & hilarous.

case in point. im starting to try and pull some side work wrenching lately, bought a second set of tools for at home, and put some ads up. i get a call some dude wants a frame swap done, im thinking cool. we talk for a minute, and he starts telling me my ad looked good but was missing one thing, "accepting all major credit cards".

well at first he got my curiousity and i was listening for a few minutes, he talked about how he and everyone uses CC's for everything, even going to mcdonalds...at this point im thinking, wow this dude is really on about credit cards, wtf...and then he is like, "yeah, we are a wholesale division of visa, and we can help you....blah, blah"

and then im like "WHOAH! wait a sec dude, did you call me for a frame swap or are you trying to sell me a credit card service??!?" he reeled it in real quick, and said his freind needed the frame swap, and he have him call me, then went right back to pitching accepting credit cards. i was . i pay money for every minute this ahole is wasting time on my cell phone.

i flat out told him i dont buy people try to solicit, especially over the phone. he was like "um, uh..why is that" i told him if i feel i need a service ill go and do research and compare different vendors and make an educated decision, and then I WILL GO TO THEM, and dont buy when people come to me. he went on rambling about whatever, and i just talked over him and said, "have your friend call me if they are serious about a frame swap but otherwise im not interested, ok? BYE. CLICK."

i wish i could describe it better, but it was awesome to hear this dude struggle to try and keep me interested and listening as i shot him down.

i was appalled. how desperate do you have to be to sell a CC service to scour craigslist ads looking for potential start-ups? probably trying to sucker me out of some outragous % of my hard earned money as well. BASTARDS!

you gotta stick to your gunz. the best part is watching their disapointment. they are ****ing out to rip you off, and its awesome to see them crushed as you basicly take food off their table by not caving.

can you tell i dont like sales people, hustlers and the like?

lol. sorry for the huge rant, its late and i need to go to bed.

your fault you sold it for what you did. Why sweat how other people are in the world, set your price, get it and don't worry about the tactics someone uses to think they got you.
If he gets 1k more for his efforts, oh well, his win. next time be ok with the deal in your mind and be done with it. Don't sweat the small petty in life.

I agree with what you say, except the guys here on motohouston look at this like friends and some family. This is a site that brings us all together and look out for each other. I mean how many times have you seen someone chime in on a scam or such? I know i'm not here to take advantage of anyone, and you don't expect that on this site. :/: More of a betrayal feeling. Oh well, I see both sides. Sorry man.

yup I can see your point. there are people who feel the need to lie, about bikes boats cars chicks everything, and I find it pretty retarded. don't call it good business because it's not. it's a hack, a trickster, a snake oil salesman, and it's reprehensible. fVck him.
I sell things for a living, in fact I'm a sales manager. since I left law enforcement mareting and sales have been my career, and I NEVER have to lie. EVER. It's one of my rules, it's easy to stick too, and it's part of the bushido 7 tenets that I live by.
this guy used his relationship with him and motohouston to work a BS deal and get more money. that's f'ed up. I would be a little nicer to people I meet here but wouldn't take advantage of it that's like a thief in the party in my opinion.
his side? that's the side of him that says anything is ok to do if you get money for it. now that's a .

I most def understand you, but at the same time the two parties got what they wanted.

It really wasnt a scam since the seller got what he asked for.

I would never be if I sold something and the buyer gave me a BS story but I got what I was asking for, I would careless.

hustled, bustled....blah, blah, blah....

You got what you were asking for the bike....or at least you took an offer you settled on whether his story was BS or not....

Like someone said above...at least the rest of us now know something about his character.

Ever been lied to before? It sucks. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but...this probably won't be the last time you're lied to, especially from someone you don't know.

Maybe I'm missing what you're trying to say Ed....

is it sh*tty he got lied to and felt sorry for the guy and his story? YES...

Did he take an offer (regardless of the story) and accept how much he sold the bike for? YES....

I don't think what most are saying here is that what Ghostrider (Brandon I think) did was right, but rather than b*tch about getting lied to, look at it as though he got what he wanted....

When you sell something, as a buyer/seller you have to have a strong backbone....the guy should have done his research a little better and asked a higher asking price if he wanted more. Cash talks/Bs walks. The guy got lied to...big f'ing deal....it probably wasn't the first and sure as won't be the last in todays society.

like I've said before, be carefull who you associate with on the boards...you never really know they're real character in one M&G or one ride to Galveston

How can you expect "more out of board members"? These peeps come from all over town and all we "know" is their internet persona from the things we type....I've met plenty of folks from the board and those I know and associate with I trust....others not so much.
