Hopefully NOT a MH member

I've seen A LOT of questionable riding on Houston freeways and usually I just shake my head and pray that they arrive home safely. However, today one rider did something that is not only unforgivable but made me hope that they lose their life before they take someone elses. I was on 610 about 4pm doing about 70 when a guy actually split the lane between my car and the car to my right!!! He wasn't swerving between the cars because we were side by side. He had on a black t-shirt that had a white picture of a wheelie on the back. There were three other bikes in this group, two of which had girls on the back. They were all wearing helmets (thank goodness) but the girls had no other gear on that I could see. To say that this episode scared the out of me is putting it lightly. The car to my right looked like it almost lost control and swerved into the far right lane. I am hopeful that this person is not a member here. If you are a member and are reading this I pray that you take this as a warning. You need to think about not only your life but the lives of others that you endanger with your poor judgement. That's all...end of rant. debra

I'm not saying its right nor wrong or if I do or don't do it but people split cars driving side by side on the freeway all the time, big deal. You can get in b/t them and be in front of them before they can even react to you

Yeah, but Gary, according to 2slo, he was driving at 70mph, side-by-side with another cage directly to his right. The moron rider's actions almost caused the other cager to get into what could have been a messy accident... on the rider's account.

The problem is... what kind of reaction the rider imposes on the cager, and the consequences thereof.

We all want cagers to respect us, but wtf do you think happens when we don't respect them?

I must admit I have split lanes more than once, I just feel that some times it needs done to get to much safer surrounding. I know you guys know what I am talking about when your sorrounded by grandma who can just see the road, much less you, the girl in front putting on make up and the business man on his cell phone trying make his car into his office. Sorry but, in those cases I feel but more comfortable infront and far away from those people as possible. I bet if the guy that freaked next to you would have been paying attention to his surroundings like they teach you in 90% of driving classes he would not have paniced the way he did. Thats just my .02

Carlos, reread the post. We're talking about 70 mph, and a literal splitting between the two cages.

This isn't a debate on whether or when it is or is not appropriate to split lanes. 70 MPH, SIDE BY SIDE LANE SPLIT

Alright no need to get mad Rob I guess I wasn't there to witness and account for why he did what he did but I guess from how the story reads he was in the wrong.

I'm mad at that rider, but not at you. I just hate to hear from someone I know, that certain behaviors are OK that clearly are not. I wanted to make sure you clearly read what he wrote in his account. Don't want to see you get hurt, bro.

I hate it when riders do this while I am driving on freeway in my car....It has happened to me twice in the past year coming back to Huntsville on 45N the new part of the freeway coming out of The Woodlands because they didnt want to wait in traffic or were in a rush to get somewhere. Slow down and think about your actions. Always make sure the girls riding with you are geared up as well.
