I always planned on having kids after i finished school. Now I have noticed that making a career is much more time consuming than school, and in now way allows for children.

Sorry to hear about PCOS Amber.

thats great that you have answers and can be treated. i am familiar with PCOS, i don't have it, but i do have lots of issues in the female region. how are you treating it?

and there is nothing wrong with you not wanting kids.

Amber, I have a very good friend of mine that has the same as you, but she already had three kids, 23, 16, and 15. I'll ask her , maybe she has some tips for ya.

Hang in there girl, and IMHO, if you do't feel the need to have any kids, don't. Different people have different priorities, that's all.

not really. it's very difficult.

and i believe thats part of the problem for her not ovulating properly.

she will prolly be going to a personnal trainer in the near future, for her health and to also hopefully make her more fertile.......lol

right now I have the diet/exercise part down, so I know it's not that...

I'm also on birth control which assists in ovulation, now for the insulin resistance portion...

This is actually quite relieving to me because it helps explain ALOT of what I've been going through.

WEIGHT GAIN!!!
This is the issue that I have been struggling with the last 2 years. In June of 06, there was an unexplained weight gain, causing me to gain about 10 lbs in only 4 weeks. This totally blindsided me. I hadn't changed my diet/eating habits, I had been eating the way I normally eat, but wow.

PCOS leads to insulin resistence - symptoms of IR include:
Weight gain, fat storage, difficulty losing weight. For most people, too much weight is too much fat. The fat in IR is generally stored around the midsection in both males and females

Depression. Because carbohydrates are a natural "downer," depressing the brain, it is not uncommon to see many depressed persons who also have Insulin Resistance.

It can also lead to type II diabetes and diabetes runs rampant in my family so that is a VERY scary though.

increased hair growth on stomach, chin, back, tops of fingers, etc
granted, i don't have hair on my back or anything like that, i have noticed an increase in hair grown on my chin and a LITTLE on my stomach. I know that sounds gross, but I'm just putting it out there.

irregular periods
my periods have never been regular, in fact, just recently, I went almost over 2 months without one.

acne
i don't have full blown acne, but I do get occasional breakouts...

Anyway, sorry if this was TMI for you guys but I wanted to put that out there and say that I'm not fat for no reason lmao :P

that's only some of the symptoms that I've been experiencing, but there are alot more where that came from

that is my blog on myspace, so I thought that I would re-post for those that don't have myspace. Not that anyone cares, but I figured some of the ladies of MH might
WOW ! I admire the honesty and frankness with which you speak.
I hope with treatment it doesn't intrude on or blight your world to any significant degree.
All the best

Sorry to hear babe, I know it's no comfort but at least you found a reason for you other health issues. And good thing you found out now instead of going on like that for years. Do you mind if I ask how you found out? Did you go to the dr for a check up or did you know something was wrong?

I know I'm not the only one in the world dealing with this, and it took me 2 doctors and 2 years to figure out exactly what I have and why I can't lose weight and why I can go 2 months without a period etc. I figured no one can hate me for being honest

The candor with which you've conveyed your circumstances takes a special kind of person, and you have my respect for it. It is evident in this thread that you are highly inquisitive, and as a result, will become incredibly knowledgable about the illness. At that rate, you might end up finding the cure. I wish you the best.
