Good thinking. I was torn between taking a small saucepan lid or a crappy hardback book.

Perhaps you could develop raging stomach cramps. This is a staged thing, so casually mention the lunch you had at some local Chinese restaurant to a few people when you first arrive. As 5pm approaches, start taking sporadic trips to the restroom. Make sure you step lively, no strolling. On the next to last run, splash cold water on your face then pinch the out of your cheeks to rosy em up. And think about dead kittens (or ring-tailed lemurs, RIP Gizmo ) so tears glaze your eyes. Smile wanly at people when you return, nothing too perky. Maybe ask around discretely for some Pepto or Immodium, but don't overdo it. Then around 5:36pm walk out of the meeting or whatever leaning over, clutching your stomach and doing the "noble moan"--the one that everyone clearly hears but you're obviously trying to stifle since you're such a trooper.

Dislaimer: This was intended for entertainment purposes only. Mala does not endorse the use of underhanded shenanigans such as those described above to get out of one's responsibilites for the sake of having fun.

Problem 2 - Mandatory Tech meeting Saturday from 3pm to 7pm in Cy-Fair... (Anyone gonna be going late to meet the group on Bragg Road?) Anyone else want to ride out late if I can borrow a bike???

PS - I would need the bike around 1pm Saturday, you can hold my 07' Tacoma keys until the ride is over...
Is there any reason why those without their bikes can just cage it? 1 cage on either end of the line of parked bikes may serve as a marker for better visibilty from approaching cars. Also support items in case the stay is prolonged, like water, snacks, etc.

I want to leave the meeting, not lose my job...

Thanks to all - Got a bike to ride (tyme2move and striker - you rock!) and I'm planning to talk to my boss about leaving at 5 because I made plans with my "Family" days ago. Hey, my sister is going on this ride! It will still take me 2 hours to get there from here, but 7pm beats the tar out of 9pm...

This would have been my second choice - but not my first~

Parts for my bike are being ordered today. They should be in on Thursday, but with G-Man and I both working I don't know that we will get around to changing both sprockets and the chain by Saturday - especially with a Saturday shift looming.

I'm sure they'll still be there, but you shouldn't ride up alone, especially at night.

I'm still not sure if I can go, but if I do, I can ride up with you.
