Quick question on buying a motorcycle

I'll be buying my first bike in a couple of days, and I had a few questions to ask if anybody on here can help me

Im about to take the MSF course in a couple of weeks, and yet to receive my license. Will i still be able to purchase the bike without a license if its paid in cash (full)? I'm guessing that to register the bike, i would need insurance but im unable to get insurance since i dont have my license yet. I dont plan to ride the bike till i get my license but it was a deal too good to pass up on. Will i still be able to purchase the bike under these conditions?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Ok you dont need a lic. do get insurance most places dont ask or check to see if you have the endorsement on your lic anyway. Its good that you are taking a class when you take it you will only need to take the written part of the test which is a plus. What size bike are you looking at?

No they shouldnt let you....but at times they will but you have to sign stating that you have it to cover their a** you should be able to call a insurance comp. from the dealer and give them a vin and have them fax over a insurance card. Glad to hear that you are not trying to get a 600 or 750 like some newbies. make sure you pick up a good jacket and helmet and if you have the money buy some riding pants you can try cycle gear to see whats out there. Oh BTW welcome to our dis functional family.

Don't do it. Motorcycles are dangerous. Get a 10 speed huffy.

I think if u are paying cash for it u don't need to show them insurance.
Financing is a differant story.

If it's a dealership, don't worry, it'll still be there. They'll make it sound like it won't, but it will.

Good on 'ya for taking the MSF!

You don't have to have a license to get the bike (as mentioned), but getting insurance is no big deal, especially if you have a policy on a car already. Obviously, they don't expect you to have a motorcycle policy if you don't own one, so the dealership won't ask you for that, but may ask you for a copy of your vehicle policy.

Paying cash (not financing) means you don't have to have insurance at all, but obviously, that's not the prudent thing to do!

Not a problem really the best time to buy is during the winter you should really pick up a used 250 that you can buy and sell later for about what you bought it for. You will grow out of the 250 in about a year that way you dont spend alot of money on a bike you should be able to pick a used bike, helmet, and jacket for about 4k give or take a little. Try craigslist first.

Really there is no sense in buying a new 250 that you will be ready to give up in a year look at what you would pay for an 08 vs. and 07 that still has a warranty I would buy one off craigslist and all your gear and still not pay what you would for a new one. check out the links I posted

the thing is.. i would so pick one up from craigslist.. but i moved to el paso texas.. and there are hardly any bikes for sale besides from dealers, especially 250's..

there seems to be too much people buying ss bikes as their first bikes which is probably why even the new ninja's wont sell that well here

so would it be possible for me to walk out with the bike if im paying full cash?

The new Ninja 250 is much better IMHO. The 17" wheels for modern rubber, improved styling, and a better suspension.

yeah the new 250 is much improved I will give you that and " kyu " if a new one is all you can find then you will have to get it. Yeah you can walk out if your not going to finance it. Good luck and stay safe. If you happen to run across brandy valdez tell her I said hi, she is and up and coming stunter and she use to work at a dealer she may be able to help you get a better deal.
