When I bought mine - I learned that fitment is key - so I started by eliminating the ones that wouldn't fit me - those that were more spherical inside. (I have an oblong and tall head - Arai would pound the top of my skull)

After that, I decided against anything with SNELL after learning how hard your head gets hit in that kind of helmet - so I stuck with DOT and European standard.

Then I looked at vent tests, noise, washability, and visor removal, and then look and design.

I decided Shark RSI was my choice - I'm very happy with it - fits like a glove - no bouncing, all the features.

Price never figured in to it as I think my head is way more valuable than a hundred bucks here or there...

So - analyze your head first - find one with no pockets of looseness... No matter the helmet, if you have 'play' in there - hitting the ground is going to hurt worse.
