Nah, not a rule...just the preferred stance though slightly modified for considerations to takedowns and such...

I teach muay thai and bjj on the west side of town. I don't charge, and only work with friends. we spar a LOT. we're also about to move into Amber's Fight School, out on west little york. they have a ring, and some generic equipment. we are attending a dungale submission tourney on saturday if you'd like to come along. I have 1 fighter competing. I don't work with people who just walk up to us and ask, but friends and MH'ers are welcome. As long as they work well with us, of course.

No, it's Todd. sooner or later I'm gonna drag Cajun up to the school, you should come too. My work has caused me to miss some nights, but I'll let you know when we'll be there if you're interested. I prefer to do muay thai with my guys unless someone really needs bjj work. like for this weekends tourney. I send my 1 fighter to Elite on westheimer so can roll with a lot of people. my qualifications are first dan in bjj and muay thai, and second dan aikido. not that much when you really think about it, but it adds up to about 12 years of training and instructing. just bring your mouthpiece and cup, I got the rest.

we don't do any weapons. the 2 I work with are working on doing well later this year in txmma's renegade fights. we have dates also for lonestar beatdowns. for those that don't know, that's the jump-off point for ufc, pride, kotc or any professional mma group that's paying the bucks. personally I'd like to see my guys go to pankrase or vale tudo, and avoid ufc all together. overhyped, and I really hate that we've lost the "art" in martial arts and it's become a "fightsport". to make up for it, I make my guys shut the up and learn some aikido about once a week.

Now if I could just get Cajun to come out...

tz420, you're a black belt in BJJ? What's your name and who'd you get belted under? Where are you located?

I train BJJ under Travis Tooke. Omega, if you have access to mats, I'd spar BJJ with you anytime.

Man I been wanting to brang my up there too lol...really hectic schedule...gonna try to give you a shout tomorrow so I can check out the tourney too. Glad to hear you're a black in bjj because I prefer to train with folks who whoop my daily (makes you better, I trained mostly exclusively with Eric, Hai, Forrest, Spencer, JP, Bruce and a few others like Jordan when I was at Elite)...lol

let's see, belted under sifu mike, currently working at the gracie camp in cali. my bjj guy is working now with hai at elite. I really prefer doing muay thai over here as my focus is on getting this guys stand up sharp. he has enough good influences over at elite, and more people to roll with. if jay and outlaw and cajun and omega would like to swing out, you're welcome to do some muay thai with us. I'd tell you to come roll with us blue, but we only do it right before submision tourneys. after he gets into renegades I may change my mind.
and week for legs continues on sunday! we may get kicked out of la fitness any time, and be at amber next week.
