I see no problem with this thread... I have yet to see Racer attack/denigrate anyone in this list.

Some people don't like to be reminded of bad things, but sometimes it is the best way to keep the dangers in mind. The ins co was kind enough to leave me my jacket and helmet... The helmet is going to be mounted on a post by my driveway, along with a spare windscreen from the FZ6. A constant reminder for every time I leave the house to go out on the street on the bike.

You're right, it's not always in a place where you can avoid it... so why do we ride on the street, like it might not be there?

Lets look at a lot of the past accidents... in how many have people wanted or tried to hide the details? Yes, some of it has been in respect for the remaining family members, and some people have been willing to discuss what happened. In most cases however, no.

True dat. But it is also a lot of the same causes.. too fast for the turn, passing in a no passing zone, following too close and not avoiding the car/truck turning. Truth be told most of the accidents posted on here are speed related.

That is not to say "we" don't speed. Trick is to choose the time and place for it.

My little offroad adventure last year was purely impatience, putting me in a bad spot for the buttmunch to run me into the ditch. My fault for getting into a bad spot entirely. I got off lucky, there have been more than one deaths for pretty much the same thing.

I imagine if most of the people that wrecked looked at their situation from an objective view, they could figure out what went wrong pretty quick.

If you crashed on the street this year, add your name to the list on the sticky thread, with a brief note as to why.

This thread was for the discussions of what happened...

I went down pretty hard on a dirt bike just after the first of the year, I know it's not the same as going down on the street but it was a high side at the top of 4th sliding around a hard packed clay corner. I was in full gear and jacked my ankle up pretty bad, i was hobbling around for a couple of days. Had i not been wearing boots I would have broken my ankle i am sure.

My sympathy's and condolences for everyone thats gone down this year. It's kinda why i haven't logged on in a while there are a load of rider down and crash threads on here, I don't want it to rub off on me.

But I guess i would have to get my bike running again to actually wreck it
