Buying out of state question

I'm planning to pick up a new bike from a dealer outside of Texas. How long do I have to register & pay tax in Texas? If use it solely as a race bike (ie will never see the road), do I still have to register with the state (although the tax part is non-avoidable). Sorry for the obvious questions to some of you..but I have never bought bike outside of state line before. thx.

No, you don't have to register a "race only" bike. I'm not sure about the taxes.

you don't have to register OR pay the taxes....since it would be purchased out of state.

if it's gonna be a race bike....why even bother with the title transfering and stuff.....just keep the title in a safe place, and you'll be alright.

new for 2008...

You have 20 working days to register/title a vehicle after purchase. There's a penalty assessed for every thirty days after that.
