Couldn't believe my eyes

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this guy with his little girl on the back of his bike and she was wearing a purple bicycle helmet.

I can only hope a cop saw this and stopped the guy!

In the event of an accident that involves hitting the helmet, 20% of them involve hitting the chin piece. That's why you should always wear a full face DOT SNELL approved helmet, not a bicycle helmet from WalMart.

its not the best helmet in the world but it is better than nothing at all.

Marginally, but better.

No gloves either.

Sometimes I don't think people think things all the way through.

I'll admit, I ride Gabrielle around the paddock at the track on the scooter with no helmet, but we're barely going 5 mph. Going forward though, I'm going to rethink that.

Well, if that's all he can afford, DO NOT put your child on the bike!

Where does one get proper protective gear for children though?

I have seen this same thing in Magnolia.

Was that picture taken in Tomball?

It's an epidemic out here.

Lot's of kids do motorcross... they make gear for them to do that. Even motorcross gear is better than what this little girl has on.

My daughter wears a ladies small leather jacket, gloves, helmet w/ jeans. She didn't start riding with me till she was 11 though...

What's funny is I'll go to Taiwan and see families riding on scooters with no protective gear....and it's OK.

That's Megan, and she's five. And that strap is the safest possible way to carry a small child with you on your bike! Guaranteed he's riding cautiously and defensively with her on back. And you said it right when you mentioned she's in FULL LEATHERS + properfly fitted helmet + boots and gloves!

This guy in the photo better not be going over 5 MPH with his set up...
