Hello from Katy and possible apology

I've been lurking a while and decided to post tonight after a little incident that I sorta lost my cool over (and probably over-reacted).

First the intro. I moved to Katy about 10 months ago and have been riding for 20 plus years. I have enjoyed logging on and checking out the MotoHouston site. I currently have the following bikes.
1994 Ducati SS/SP (944 kit, hi comp pistons, flat slides, other stuff)
1998 Honda VFR800 stock with 63K miles
1996 KTM 620 EXC (street legal)
2002 Honda XR400R motard (street legal)
2001 Honda XR100 set up for my size
2005 PW50 (kids)

I have gone on a few Sunday morning runs for breakfast to Orzaks, but mainly head to the Hill Country for riding or ride in the College Station area (Aggie class of 92).

Now for the apology. Tonight, I was heading home from Katy down Mason into Cinco Ranch after eating dinner with the wife and three kids (two of whom ride the PW50 above). A rider in shorts, sweatshirt, and helmet comes around me cleanly then proceeds to attempt a wheelie. Not a terrible one, but not the best I've seen. Guy speeds ahead and pulls in for gas. It's a Honda CBR 600, red, undertail kit, and I think had "Red Rice" on the windscreen.

I pulled in after him and mentioned that he really didn't need to be pulling that stuff in traffic and near my family. He was very respectful and obviously not a bad guy. I was a little agitated and probably more so than I should have been, but let him know I didn't appreciate the bad signal that stuff sends to Joe Public about riders that do it the right way.

If your on this site, please accept this as an apology. I probably could have been a little more calm, but at the same time, please remember that doing stuff like that in traffic (without proper gear) can result in your death, my family being scarred by seeing it (or worse yet, being involved when you wipe out in front of us and we hit you), and at a minimum causing people to have a negative connotation about us as motorcyclists. It's just not needed.

Stunting, riding at speed, etc are all good and fine. Just do it away from traffic and for your own good, buy and wear protective gear.

The one thing that has really bugged me is all the deaths I read about on this site. It's gonna happen, but we should all try to take steps to minimize it for us all for many many reasons.

Thanks to all for the welcome.

The apology was mainly for me getting worked up and catching him off guard. I don't think what I said needs an apology, more of how I did it.

Hope to meet some of you in the near future. I will try to make a ride soon. Any particular "standard" meeting locations for rides on a Saturday or Sunday?
