wrong, my bike had cats in '00 and 02 sensors.

now are they tested, not YET.

unless you plan to get a Power Commander ($300) and get it mapped ($300-400), just get a slip on.

BTW upgrade the rider, esp. since your a new rider, it'll automatically make the bike faster. the $1000+ your gonna spend is better spent on learning to ride better.

trackdays FTW!

generic maps would prolly be fine, but to get the MOST out of your exhaust it;s best to get a custom map.

w/ that being said the bike is way faster then you'll prolly ever be in it's current state.

spend the $ on gear (boots) diff. jackets, rider education.

as for slip-ons i like AKRA stuff, nice and mellow. and great quality stuff.

Is the pipe new? if so thats a great price on it.... yes I would go with it. If its used.....try www.morepowerracing.com I got a full akro w/ carbon can for $836+250 for the power commander, my total was $1086 shipped....(free shipping). You will love the akro, it sounds great(toned, not too loud) looks great, quality is 2nd to none and you will gain a solid 8-10hp before tuning.

You will need to get a custom map though, pre-made maps for other bikes suck.....might as well run the stock tune and save the money on the PCIII.

yeah, it's a new exhaust system... would i HAVE to get a power commander if i get the full exhaust??? or will the bike still run without stalling or any problems without the pc3??? thanks

You would be most intelligent to have a PC3 installed and custom mapped with the installation of a full system. I would recommend an airbox upgrade and air filters as well to acheive fullest potential of the f/s.
Motorcycles shouldn't have "sniffer" tests for some years. Hopefully, they will come up with an "obd2" or similar situation.

Your bike will run fine with the new full system and stock tune. It is worth spending the money on a PCIII and custom map but if you are tight on cash, you can get by without it for now. Stock bikes run really rich from the factory so the system will lean it out some but not to the point it will damage anything or run bad. It may develop a few small areas where you will get a lean surge or cough but you can just ride around those until you get it tuned....its no biggie... I probably wouldn't do any top end shootouts or anything until you get it tuned out though...or at least get the AFR checked on a dyno.

My full akro leaned my AFR out over 1 full point... After the pipe but before the custom map, the AFR was still right at 13.0-1 which is right where you want it.

i'd like to see a few months riding or some miles, cuz odds are he's gonna drop/crash the bike early on. THEN replace it w/ AKRA.
