got to start small in group of like 4 or 5 then go big. just like everyone says not to get a 1k for their first bike, get a 250. same thing.
that is why you put the new people up front... everyone else that knows what group riding is about keeps their safe follow distance and spacing intervals.... the problem is the noobs don't want to ride fast and the others do. let the noobs set the pace and all should be fine. if noobs are in the front then it is no different for them that a small ride except for the number of people following.

well if you wanna be academic about it - there is a few hour classroom only class on that at the AC http://www.awesomecycles.com/group_riding_main.htm

But seriously though - the most useful sign to me is when someone points out a hazard on the road (with any of their extremities)...

There are off course turn signs (I usually look at and use blinkers too), slow down sign(left hand waving down open palm) (I also try to flash my stoplight), popo sign is a hand on the helmet but my radar warns me sooner nowadays... I think that's all of the basics

whistler cruisader, it is a motorcycle radar so they make it easier to mount. it comes in several units: in dash, two antennas, in helmet LED.

however the quality of the product sucks. my rear laser antenna is too "hot" - gives away false alarms. i called whistlergroup they sent me another one - the same story. they say its my main unit is faulty. But its only for the auxilary input (rear antenna). So i just disconnected it. Whistler says send it back to us (I pay shipping) and they will take some time "investigating" my problem. In the meantime i will be without a radar. I said no thanks.

But you know i got what i paid for. MSRP $399 unit i paid $150 online by various discounts.

The main unit however is more sensitive than my cobra that I had in my car the for last 5 years. and that cobra saved me a lot of tickets!

Ketta is planning,

ride wise, we will have at least 1 leader and one permanent sweeper;

If there's a RC, they can go over the hand signals;

As for us, keep it clean, usual highway rules for sportbikes- if ur gonna screw around or stunt, pull away from the group to the other lane, do ur stuff away from others then reform;

as for newer riders, don't let the adrenaline get to ya, enjoy the cruise, there will be another day to feed your testasterone....

If the group is split up, we'll stop at intercections and will have a plan once we get there on where to go, who's leading the inner galvestine cruise...

this doesn't have to be a formal Road Captain ride, if ur inexperienced, stay w our group; otherwise lets have some fun out there and above all, be safe...

cobras suck.... and whisters are slightly better... if you can afford it, go with one of the best, Beltronics, Escort, or Valentine. look at this website, it tests all of these... the closest to yours is the whister pro 78, which i think is just sold in a different housing for motorcycles. if i'm going to be speeding, i want to KNOW that i have the best protection available. you get what you pay for

Road Captain is a course offered that goes over all that stuff. In an official club for a church, organization, etc and benefit rides, usually a Road Captain is required to lead each group for insurance purposes(w police escort, etc.)

There are official hand signals, to double up, single row, turn, etc;

most importantly, the leader should give everyone enough room when in a group to come over and a sweeper will aid in that(i agree w sweeping/blocking regardless of what cops say, keep the group together as one not scattered about)

as for sportbikes, usually just the stagger of 2 sec behind the person infront of you and 1 sec behind your stagger buddy works... on tight twisties, single row, 2 seconds behind eachother... If you're gonna pass, do it when everyone knows, always check behind u before you go and make sure others know u are...

If you wanna ride on Saturday, freeway, hit us up on this forum. Im in the woodlands, will be in kingwood to fix a fellow bro's bike but free after...
