Unhappy I don't want to be a stupid kid.

Ok, so, I'm a "kid" by a lot of peoples standards but have decided now would be a good time to switch from spending all of my extra time, money, and love on a motorcycle instead of a car.

My question is:

Is it a better idea to buy a used Ninja250 or a new one. Looks are not an issue for me. I like em both.

I'm trying to do it the "right" way and even hacked together a little tracking page here (http://redstarredux.com/index.php?page=progress)

And one last question. Whats the estimate cost of gear?

Get a used one. Bike, that is.
Spend as much as you can afford on gear.
Helmet 150+
Boots 100+
gloves 50+
jacket 100+
pants 75+
Just rough estimates of extremely economical options.

Oh, Welcome.

buy a used one.....they have very good resale value. As for gear, dont skimp out, but you dont have to go for bust either. Plan on spending about 500 for a jacket boots and HELMET. The helmet is the most important, make sure it fits snugly, but is still comfortable, and is DOT and SNELL approved, it will say on the back of the helmet. As for a jacket, they should fit snug, but you can buy one size bigger to layer up when it gets cold. Make sure everything you get fits well, the last thing you want is to be sufferering because your gear doesnt fit.

Assuming you get an 08, you will be able to sell it easily as the ex250 holds its value very well.
Get what you like. It's all about you.

I forget about the silly remodel

1) Adjust the price of the MSF course to $150 http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24533

2) Be sure and take the course BEFORE you buy the bike and gear. (We're going to give you coupons for gear, etc. at the end of your class)

You'll lose more money going with a new 08 250, but not really all that much. Maybe $50/month I'm sure after a year of riding that $3,500 bike around, you'll be able to sell it for 3k, or near. So whichever one you prefer.

As far as gear, in my case it was. . .
$500 Helmet
$225 jacket
$215 gloves
$50 boots

I've since upgraded(except the helmet, I went for the best the first time around)

You can find GREAT deals on closeout items as far as gear, but it MAY not be the color combo, brand, etc. . . you really want.

100 on jacket

+1

gear does no good in your closet! ATGATT! It will save your life. And you will drop your bike...

better to buy used, you're going to want something bigger anyway. Then save for what you REALLY want in another year.

Congrats on not wanting to be another stupid kid!
