EXACTLY what I was about to say. Granted - our bikes are 2002, they still should be similarly geared to a 2005. Mine won't pull more than a few inches in 3rd, prolly cuz i'm not big into doing anything over 100, especially a wheelie. 2nd gear it will power it up, no bouncing at 60. Stock bike other than a modified exhaust can. Also, before I modified the can, it would power it up at 2,500 in first. Too much torque for my road riding preference. The original poster never mentioned about first gear powering it up..

Try hitting it hard at ~ 9K instead of such a high rev. It will come up easier then.

Here is the first video I took of a power wheelie on the 2005 R1 I used to own. I used to roll on the throttle slowly until 7K in 2nd gear then crack the throttle open. I had to roll on until 9K in 3rd gear but they were a lot smoother once they were up. The bike was totally stock.
