Didn't know where to post this. I am interested in getting my rims chrome but I am nervous about just letting anyone do it. Any suggestions or places I can go check out?

we're not post whoring, we're soliciting for busa members:

lets not forget this one:
http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=37684

As for chroming; most people I know buy an extra set, ebay or retailer since they are worried about getting a raw end of a deal; for the price you could also get a custom set but chroming existing wheels, will of course be cheaper

Guys, thank you so much for the referrals. I decided to go with an individual who just got his shop opened. His name is Nick and he used to work for Grand Prix. Cool dude and plus we live in the same neighborhood.

Make sure to ask whoever is actually doing the chroming process how long their warranty is against flaking / peeling / bubbling.

Very few chrome aluminum rims hold up much past a year or so without issues. Cast aluminum is very porous and constantly outgasses, chrome isn't so it will "bubble" as the gasses try to come out.

Aluminum also flexes at a different rate than chrome, so you may get some spider webbing / cracking going on.

The factories don't chrome any of their cast aluminum wheels for the above listed reasons.

Good luck and welcome to MH!

Call SPORTCHROME or go to www.sportchrome.com That is the ONLY place to get chrome wheels. Don't mess with any of the local chromers, they all suck, most are all from the same family.

Call John at Sportchrome, he will work out an exchange program with you. They are about $600pr + your stock wheels and they have a 2 yr warranty. I have my rear from them and its about 2yrs old and still looks like it did when I got it new. My front is from locals and its ....my original rear was also from locals and after re-chroming it 3 times, its no longer usable so I just bought one from Sport Chrome. I need the front now.

Also make sure you get it triple-plated. Afterwards, becareful who you take it to for getting the tires installed. You should probably let Patrick do it so the chrome doesn't get scratched or chipped, once it chips, it will start peeling right off.

Dont care too much for chrome, but Scootertrash does some badass powder coating. His two tone definitly would look better than chrome. Go 2 the sponser section to check some of them out.
