Wow! Awesome ending. Amazing that they caught them so fast. I would not want to keep my bike outside there anymore. It's unfortunate what the world has come to when you have to worry about idiots stealing your stuff! Good luck with the garage thing.

You don't think about everything before you shoot. You own a gun and use it to protect your family and property as well as yourself. At night you can use deadly force to protect your property. Problem is that not everyone has what it takes to pull the trigger. Lucky for you they didn't have a weapon. Good to hear you got them arrested. Sure they'll be out on bail in one week. No justice.

IMHO the problem with shooting them is they were on COMMUNITY property. We know they were stealing the bike, but they could say the stopped to admire it. Without it being in there possesion, killing them would be stupid. Its just a bike, and not worth prison over. If you own house, its different, because there on your property. Sounds like he did the right thing.

Wrong again, as I stated, you have to clearly communicate that you saw him/her/them, brandish a weapon, you then felt at that time your life was threatened and used deadly force to defend yourself.
Like I said it is due to the fact that it is night time you have no way of knowing 100% what they may or may not have in their hands. You don't have to flee, that is also in the code, you have the right to defend yourself with deadly force if you feel your life, or a 3rd parties life is in imminent danger, plain and simple.

Ok I am no expert on the law, and don't claim to know it all.I think if you read through all the laws that cover use of deadly force, I think you will absolutely come to the same conclusion as I do, when it comes to theft of property at night, and what the rights of the victim, or said property owner are...

It seems very clear cut, not much room for interpretation...

I completely agree. They just passed the shoot first law 9/1/07. I just think in this case, proving theft is not absolute. And (personally) when I take someones life, I prefer my life to REALLY be endanger. Not sure I could live with myself knowing I took someones life, and LIED about them having a weapon.

Time to move. You never know what these people are capable of, especially if/when your wife is alone or walking in from her car or you for that matter. These types of people want revenge when this sort of thing catches up with them. I'd already be packing my happy up.

The gun is unloaded because of the location. It is the closest to the front door and in easy reach, but not just for me.

As many said, this is community property. They were fleeing, I felt no immediate danger. They did not have my property in their possession.

Its not WORTH it.

The bike is maybe $6500 on its best day, I've got full covarage, Is that REALLY worth taking some dumbass kids life?????

As far as the moto, "if you show it, you better use it" So your saying if you pull a gun, and I turn around and run off, your gonna shoot me in the back???

And, "shoot first, ask questions later".....NO. You may live by that moto, and I hope like you dont own a firearm!

I am in NO WAY afraid to pull the trigger. I learned a long time ago "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength-
