When I run through 149 I usually ride 5-10 MPH over and have never been bothered. Ride beyond that and you are asking for trouble.

Of course I am usually on my 109 and off the radar in comparison to a sport bike.

Enjoy the forest and the sweeping turns.

If you want to haul that is NOT a good place for it. If you lose it in a turn the run off is about ten feet and then it's a wall of pine trees bigger than you can reach around.

Come to the track where the cops are not a problem, there are no trees or traffic and if something happens there is an ambulance 30 secs away.

Just rode through it yesterday. Didnt see a single one. We did however see one on 3090 going towards navasota. I was doing about 70-75 (cant remember the limit there) but he just flashed his lights and kept going the other way. Didnt even bother us..

I dont feel right hauling a$$ through the forest.. Just something I dont like about going by ppl's houses real fast. Its disrespectful and I know I would prob be out there with a high power rifle if I had to put up with it.

I've heard that because of all of the new housing developments going in over there the contractors put some pressure on the Mayor to step up enforcement, so their potential customers wouldn't be intimidated by the sportbikes in the area.

A recent experience riding the Forest was not good.

There was 3 of us, we were running 2-3 miles an hour UNDER the speed limit when a Forest Ranger whipped in front of us Starsky and Hutch style and blockaded the road.

We pulled onto the shoulder and his buddy came in behind us and blocked us in.

We had killed the bikes were pulling our helmets off and they jumped out of their SUV hands on guns and started yelling for us to take the keys out of the ignitions.

Long story short, they wrote all of us for 78 in a 60, were rude and unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth for Montgomery County / the Forest in general.

I've heard similar stories from other motorcyclists that have been tagged by this overzealous tag team of Forest Rangers.

There's lots of good law enforcement officers that do their job well, it's a shame that these two give them a black eye.

I only go through the Forest now if I have to on the way back from a ride, and I do 5-10 mph under the speed limit.

My 2 cents.

Note, I'm not bashing cops, didn't call anyone names, just related a negative experience with a LEO.

Lets see the forest.

I was pulled over for 3 over when the were cracking down on bikes going through the forest. I got pulled over by forest ranger who told me to slow down and he gave me a warning and then told me about the 11 other cop cars in the forest. I was then later able to count the other 11 cop cars when I was cruising at 5 under.

The cops said the main complaint is noise but if that is the case why are they not focusing on Harley's with straight pipes.

I have YET to see a cop going through the forest, it must be a time of day or day of the week type thing. On one of the rides there was a ranger that I didn't even notice but others said they noticed him in his vehicle waving them to slow down. I typically ride there during the week in the morning time 9-11am. Even on the Sunday rides I've been on through the forest I've never seen any.

Of course I do record most of my riding when I am solo, perhaps they've seen my videos. I also tend to ride at a lower RPM when passing the houses in the area to keep the engine/exhaust noise down. I have also heard that they have little to nothing to do in that area so they don't hesitate when writing a speeding ticket.
