We had a group of wild Pits attack one of our dogs one time. Once they latch on they DON'T let go. They killed our dog, but you gota do what you have to. I strongly believe that it's the way they are raised! We had two rottweilers and a pit and they were the most loving dogs any one could ask for. And not just to us because we were the owner, they were nice to all. I hope that her dog heals well.

glad you were able to keep steady wits and shoot when you have to. I'm a CAPS foster AND a CHL holder, when I take mine for a walk I'm always ready to do something like that if I must. I hate people who let their pets run free, it's a liability and very irresponsible. good news that she's ok, that is scary.
you can always tell those who don't know bad dogs from bad handlers.
most people don't know it or won't admit it if they are. they don't know the difference. "my family had dogs for years, so I know all about them" WRONG. just having them does not mean you know t. try professional schools. and there are a lot that don't have much dog education that do fine because they have good sense.

While I agree that the way they are raised has a big influence on them, I just can't bring myself to trust them. There are just too many instances where so called good dogs from good homes have gone bad.
There are so many dog breeds that don't have this reputation that I feel anyone who ones a Pit, should be required to take extra precautions with them.
I also believe that the owners should be held in extra accountability if their dog attacks someone or their pet/livestock.

Sorry about your situation, I hope it all works out.
You never have answered if you know who the owners are and if you are gonna try to make them pay the bills you have incurred.

i think they have a law about letting your animals run loose. if the animal attacks somebody, the owner of the animal can be arrested and sent to jail for it.

If that happened to my dog, and my dad found out who the owner was he would kill him.. He's extremely attached to the dog.

And here where i live, Woodlands/Conroe border.. Everyone lets there dog run loose.. Really gotta watch out.

unfortunately there were no tags on the dog and we have no clue who the owners are. the cops did come but said we did the right thing and there is no need for a report. (which i don't get) it took two shots at the dog for him to release bonnie and when bonnie ran away it took two more to finally kill the dog. mind you we weren't using regular bullets. just a bad night and unfortunately having no insurance can't afford to go to the docs so i'm just going to keep my cut clean and watch it. and bonnie will be fine we heard from the vet a little bit ago. so all will be good in the end

maybe the dog was microchipped? vets usually have scanners that can tell if a chip is present or not. might be worth checking on so the owners don't get another dog that does the same thing.

Unfortunately some how or another i got a huge gash on my toe and i'm just really off at ignorant people who can't control their animals!!! alright i'm done for now need to relax and clean the foot and the damage. end rant for now!

this is the main reason pits have such a bad rep OWNERS

Put a band aid on it and ride tomorrow...

Thats crazy stuff. I bet Tiffany is trippin...I would have shot the dog too, no doubt. Hope your foot heals up quick...rabies?

Anyway, we just got back from the Marti Grai Parade and took our dobe with us. She is the sweetest thing out there. All the other dogs out there were acting agreesive especially this guys great dane, I mean it was all this guy could do to hold it back. The big ****er wanted to attack Lexie which is kind of odd for a great dane. Most I know are kinda rowdy sometimes but never agressive.

IMO, it is a combination of breed and raising an animal right.

I've had problems with loose dogs in my neighborhoos. Two strays came in my yard and killed four of my outside cats, my next door neighbor saw them. We caught them and called animal control, but the dogs came back. We caught them again and called again- this time they didn't come back. I have no idea what happened to them, and I don't care. They were not pits.

my paintball gun takes care of random strays that come around and get into trash...spray my porch and fight with my animals.
