Anyone need cheap, new leathers?

Try this place:
www.topgearleather.com

Some of their stuff is cheesy but you can get 2pc leathers suits for $250... I ordered some pants from them for drag racing and they were pretty decent quality for $105 shipped. They were sized very small though. I got them in the same size waist that I normally wear and they are at least 2 sizes too small. I called them and they are shipping me another pair today....pretty good svc.

So if you need some cheap jackets or pants to get you by or something just for racing, check em out... I don't know if I would use their stuff for road racing but for drag racing or street riding, I think its a good buy...

i've heard nothing but bad things about that place. you get what you pay for...how much is your skin worth to you? i'd much rather spend a couple, or even a few hundred more, and get something that's proven itself protective.

yeah, maybe for drag racing i'd use those....good lookin out though zxalan

i'd much rather prefer a well known manufacturer to protect my skin on the road course tracks....i think even aggressive street riding i would prefer the good stuff.

I just need some for straight track. I would hate to spend more for the little use I will get. I getting hooked on 1/4 mile. I need a bigger bike. Well first I need to get faster on the 1 I have. Will these leathers make me faster? kiddin

Take it from someone who's had 150+mph get offs, spend your protective equipment budget wisely! Don't skimp on safety equipment. You'll get what you pay for, and then you'll get a bill for skin grafts and rehab.

I have seen a few suits that have been worked over. They were good suits. Almost no damage at all. I would like a good suit. Just dont want to pay for one.

Check ebay and racing forums you kind find high quality used suits for $250-350.

Yeah I wouldn't use these for track days or hardcore street roosting.....just for drag racing and street cruising etc.... I did call them about exchanging my pants, they said no problem but I have to send them $10 for shipping the new pair, PLUS I have to pay to ship these back....That me off....it wasn't my fault their stuff is sized super tiny but....I guess to all those kids in the sweatshops sewing them, it all looks big...LOL No biggie, I will still have drag racing pants for $125 that will zip to any jacket.

I would always recommend the best you can buy for leathers but for someone who only drag races a few times a year, I think these will get you by fine....and cheap.

We have the 2 piece Fieldsheer Revo suits on blowout right now for $349.95.

It's a bit more, but they're a proven product with CE armor.

I'm confused as to what makes a good drag suit as oppossed to a road course suit? Even a slow 600 is doing 120+ at the end of the quarter, which is worse IMHO than most of the slower corner get offs I've witnessed at the track. Don't forget that you won;t slide on a grippy 1/4 mile like you would on grass or a road course. I see it like this.................

Drag race entry fee............................20.00
Trackday fee................................135-190.00
Good race suit...............................400-1200.00
NOT havinig skin grafs...................PRICELESS!!!

I'd suggest looking around for used good quality suit from a well known maker. The Feildsheer or even a Frank Thomas suit can be had new for under 500.00. I've got a used once Teknic one piece I'll sell a guy around 5'8" 140-175# for 425.00. You really have to be careful about the Chinese knock off stuff. Some of it's OK, but most of it's just what you pay for ........cheap Chinese knock offs.

Big +1, but I guess some people will be the unfortunate learners of the school of First Experience... choose wisely if you want to enroll.

The difference in a drag suit vs. a road race suit is the fit, thickness and padding etc....In a drag suit, you basically want the thinnest, lightest leather, especially for the pants as its much more flexible. ON the pants, you don't really want any padding or anything that will hinder flexing of the knee. Pants need to be baggy so they slide up and down your leg easily, that is also why they are straight leg and go on the outside of your boot as opposed to tucking them in. That makes them much harder to pull your legs up on the pegs when your feet are stretched way out behind(drag launch stance). Basically you need to be able to easily squat all the way to the ground comfortable from a standing position in your leathers if you are drag racing. I do recommend the best jacket you can get. Thats why I use my Vanson jacket but just want some cheap baggy pants to race in.

ON another note, those Fieldsheer suits Patrick has would be a great deal for $349, I have had good luck with Fieldsheer over the years. If the pants were straightleg and had no padding in the knees, I would think about em....
