Went down last week for first time

Last Wed. after class around 2:30 PM. It was on a two way-two lane road, speed limit 50 mph. I passed up two cars on the left lane and returned to the right. I slow back down when a truck pulls out in front of me makeing a left turn to get in the lane. I look to the left but there is a suburban and a car coming my way...I think for a second that I can needle threw them Glad I didn't I would most likely be dead. Well I try to slow down as much as possible and take my chances on the right of the truck. I didn't make it and cliped its side. I wake up in the hospital a couple of hours later.

They said I was pretty lucky. My icon helmet left me with only a concusion...no jacket so I ended up with what felt like the worst sun burn in my life. This is the only way I can describe the oozy open flesh on my shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle on my left side.

Now the bike (05 honda cbr 600rr) is in a sad state. It actually looks like it is crying. the left handle bar bracket is broken off so its dangleing. The left rearset is broken off aswell. I would list all the plastics that are broken but its easier to say that the right fairing is the only one not up. Yes even the rear plastics and seat are pretty much gone. The engine cranked up for my but shot up a of alot of smoke. The bike would go in and out of neutral and first. The frame, swing arm, rims look it good condition.

I'll try to post up some picks soon. I had to sell my Glock to some redneck for the hospital bills and the get started on fixing the bike. My buddy has a 04 with a blown tranny and motor. He told me I could part out his If I needed to. So what parts can be changed over? Also how much will it take to get my baby back on the road? I'll post some picks up later...also does anyone want to see some road rash

All I can say is remember this thread?

http://www.houston-imports.com/forum...d.php?t=202836

Sucks that you went down but it seems you were going way to fast on a very small road. MSF? Did you even try emergency braking? Luckily you're not dead and here to talk about it. I say you just get that running and fixing the plastics cuz you will most likely drop the bike again within the end of this year. Good luck

Glad you're not hurt... but if you had enough time to think about all those actions and routes, then it sounds like you had enough time to emergency brake. Sounds like the bike and the speed outweigh the skills. :confused1:

Re: Went down last week for first time

glad ur not dead, but you need to start wearing gear (not just helmet) and stop speeding in public roads (streets are dangerous)

Re: Went down last week for first time

dude - glad you're not dead... i'll tell you like i told bykeboy http://www.houston-imports.com/forum...29#post3021229

so many newbs start off on 600's... sell it and get you something you can control better...

anyway maybe some good can come from this and you can help other newbs to understand how important it is to have gear on...

everybody gets "owned" at some point in time, what makes a difference is what you learn and apply after you get "owned"
