Out of curiosity (and ignorance ), what's the difference btw qualifying tires and race tires? I suppose they cannot be used interchangeably...
And i think new blood will take over this year... JT, Lorenzo, Dovi, Stoner and D'angelis

qualifying tires are extremely grippy/in their prime for only a handful of laps, whereas racing tires would/should go roughly 25 or so laps.

also the bikes act different with race/quali tires at those levels so being the fastest with quali is not always the best thing.

I'm not even sure why they use qualifiers at this stage of testing and on Day 1 apart from as you say, the bike will act differently so it gives them a feel for for it in preperation for when it counts.
I think quali's at this point is more about mind games and Edwards is throwing down the gauntlet.

Man i really hope edwards can do a good job, race time he just gets lost. Good for the rookies - Dovi(favorite), de angelis and Lorenzo(thinking how to mess around with rossi).

The Alice Ducati is not doing too good.

Im getting more knowledged in Moto GP and I cant believe how much attention is given to just the tires, but I guess the tires are the only thing between the rider and the ground!

GO TECH 3!

Also, qualifying tires help to drop an average of a second off the race tires lap times.

I just read up on it. Highsided out of turn one(not a corner I'd wanna wreck in) and tore about half a muscle off a bone. Says he'll back for the next test.
