I grew up in the Philly area so I've been skiing plenty of times but never really got into snowboarding. Looks cool though.

I own all my own gear, been to Lake Tahoe, Colorado, and the hills of Iowa. Leaving for Colorado 1 week from today!!!! I can't wait, snowboarding is almost a tie with motorcycling as a favorite hobby. I just wish I didn't have to spend 600 bucks everytime I want to go.

I hate you.... just thought you should know ....

my snowboard mocks me every winter while it sits in my garage. I used to snowboard every weekend during the season when I lived in california ... but no more.

word of advice ... get a helmet ... the ski patrol dude suggested it to me after they patched me up at the aid station... my recolection of the event comes only from what people told me because I still don't remember how it was that I ended up there.

that was one of the first things i was told, and glad i did it.... i can remember thinking a few times, " that would have hurt without this helmet" and i still got my bell rung a few times even with it

I love boarding, I go every time I'm back in Colorado. I have blard/boots/bindings/pants/gloves/etc all at my inlaws up there so I don't have to take it on the plane. My problem is that I never do enough leg training in the off season to build my stamina enough to do more than a couple runs. I always start out great, then my legs and calves get tired and I get sloppy and start falling a lot more.

Last time out, I got into some DEEP powder and did a cartwheel. My left shoulder (with an old injury already) got torqued bad and I remember hearing it pop 3 times and serious pain. I had full range of movement but I couldn't sleep on it for like two months. It seems better now though. It's been about a year, might be time to go reinjure it.

I will second the helmet. I caught a frontside edge on an icy flat and luckily didn't have a concussion. My nose and goggles helped disperse the impact. The medic said that if it was a backside that I would have had a serious concussion.

I completely disagree with this. I went skiing once and I've never had a worse time on a mountain. I didn't realize that my knees could rotate past 90 degrees. I cussed like a sailor all the way down that evil green slope.

The first day that I went boarding, I felt comfortable enough to get onto blues. Maybe it's cause I skateboarded when I was growing up, I don't know.
